| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Since this thread is back and I missed the first time around...... I do agree that MMR is the way to go for some goddamn good music during the midday. Pierre makes you want to fucking take a nap every time he opens his mouth but once he's done talking and plays something, it's usually something good. I did prefer YSP to MMR for middays but when D&M moved in, that was it. I really have no doubt that Tim Sabean is not to blame. The guy held out on D&M for the longest time.... D&M had wanted to get into Philly in the worst way, especially after they weaseled their way into NYC. Behind both of those moves, there is a common factor - Ken Stevens. He's the GM of WJFK, WNEW, and WYSP. Seems fairly clear to me that he's D&M's boy, and he pulled rank on Sabean so they could get their way. But they'll see. YSP was really kicking ASS in the middays. I'm sure they'll see their midday ratings tank and MMR's ratings go through the roof. Don and Mike don't understand something - everyone sees it but them... that something is... that they're on their way OUT. They don't want to be, but they are. They're just... done. Actually, at first I had a sneaking suspicion that D&M were put on YSP knowing ahead of time that they would completely tank. Then Ken and/or higher bosses could go to D&M, show them the AWFUL New York ratings, show them the AWFUL Philly ratings, and perhaps suggest that it's time to hang up the headphones.... Wishful thinking I guess.  | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | I agree that D&M are sub-par, but what the hell else is there? Even a lame D&M argument is better than Sporting News Radio, Lionel or Fucking Phil Hendrie. Fact is that there is no one else that is even in the same catagory as O&A. The next level down, granted WAY down, is shows like D&M and Stern. As for Ron and Fez, well they just suck. Honestly, I did give Don & Mike a chance when they first came on here, no matter what I heard. Unfortunately, what I heard was right. I just don't get that show. I just want to know whatever drugs their audience is taking, if I could have some, because they seem to work. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 02 | i completely agree with you. first of all, let me say, i am not the biggest fan of O&A. they can be funny, but it's painfully obvious how they've ripped so much off from Stern. gay ramone=gay marcos, big black=black earl, etc... they know they aren't fooling anyone, but they do have some funny mf'ers on the show. jay more is hilarious, breuer, norton (who's eatabullet.com is what got me to this message board), those guys are funny as hell. but back to the reason i am responding. i've lived in south jersey all my life, so we've basically had 2 philly rock stations to listen to. and WYSP was always my favorite. but now i can barely listen to them. let's face it, maybe they realized that rock music right now is awful and they figure talk cant be as bad as creed. now while they're right about that (NOTHING is as bad as creed), this Don & Mike show is just the worst ever. they haven't said a funny thing since they started. of course, that's going on word of mouth because i haven't listened to them since the first 10 minutes of their first show in philly. it was painfully obvious that they were awful and i HAD to turn it off. they're old, they're fat, and they apparently sold their sense of humor for a hair plug operation and a jenny craig membership that they never used. even when i've accidentally hit that preset bitton on my lunch break from work, the only thing i ever laughed at was how quickly i had to change the station because these guys are so plastic, so fake, so pre-packaged. it sounds like a couple of oldies station DJ's trying to be outrageous. someone, please rip their voiceboxes out. thank you Soundgarden still RULES! | ||||

I might not agree with him, I might think he's a paranoid ego maniac who probably does think that calling a black guy black was his idae...even if it's just because Eaerl wears black clothing, but I can definitely see where he comes from. Who the hell is listening to them I havent meet one person yet. Everyone I ask think they suck. I have been listening to MMR in the afternoon just like most of you. I think they should either put on Ron and Fez or Cousin Ed back on in the afternoon. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | There has been some good that came out of D&M moving to Philly, now MMR can actually play the music that they have wanted to play for the past 5 years. Now that there is no competition in the midday slot, they stop playing the music that they used to play to lure YSP listeners away and instead play more more pink floyd where they used to play limp bizkit. I would say that the general consensus of people in Philly is that D&M are funny, but they would much rather listen to music from 11-4 and shift gears from music to talk at 4 with O and A. Either way, I would still like to get my YSP middays back because there actually were some good jocks in the 11-4 slot... then again, everything is better then D&M.quote: I couldnt agree more... us Philly people really should get something together  "Get busy living or get busy dying." | ||||
