I couldn't give 3.2451 shits about what the actual ratings are but I'm sick of listening to the friggin' people who do care (the radio guys [and that includes O&A]) spin the numbers to meet their needs. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | First of all, I think Arbitron ratings are supposed to be only for the eyes of those who subscribe to them. If that's the case, then Don reading the numbers on the air is a big no-no. Don *and* O&A spin the numbers to do what they want. Don looks only at the 12+ number, in other words, all demos. The words "target demographic" are not in his vocabulary, apparently. O&A look at their target demo. 18+, 18-34, 18-49. Those are the big ones. Maybe 25-54 too. Why do O&A only care about target demos? It's what the ADVERTISERS care about. Advertisers mean MONEY. I'm not saying O&A only care about money, they're just smart as hell.... they know that a CASH COW always sticks around. Look at Howard. He's a major Infinity cash cow. And the more money he made, the more stations they put him on. O&A aren't stupid - they know exactly what they're doing. So there ya go.  | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | From following TV ratings over the years, I know the ratings breakdown like this: 7-12 12+ 12-17 18+ 18-34-men 18-34-women 18-49-men 18-49-women 50+ I don't knwo if it's the same in radio but it sound right. FollowThisLogic is right on with O&A. They are really smart because they are going for THEIR demos which is 18-49-men. They say that alot. They want women, they've said it before, but their MAIN demo is 18-49-men. Don & Mike they are idiots trying to make sense of the rating. As far as I know, there is no 25-49 rating block, I could be wrong. Boy I hope they are live today. I guess they're not going to be. Taking an extended vacation is no big deal. Like I said, I don't care all that much which is why I'm not listening carefully but I'd tired of people yelling on the air "He's lying! THESE are the numbers! THOSE are the facts! End of story!" Whatever. And just because Arbitron forbids publishing those numbers it doesn't mean that someone can't leak them. I'm sure Lucas really didn't want his new Star Wars flick happily prancing about IRC the night before The Big Debut. :-D C'mon...just one unscrupulous intern. | Psychopath Registered: Mar. 02 | First off, everybody lies about something. That means O&A, but it also means D&M, R&F, Ferrall, Stern, The Radio Chick... Now, the bottom line is that no matter how you twist aroud the ratings, O&A are #1 in the areas that they need to be. And as long as they are, the advertisers are going to keep paying, and that means O&A are doing their job. If WNEW/advertisers arent concerned with Females or men from certain age groups, then why should O&A? | O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | It's all about the $. Not that I am calling the boys $ whores, but they know that statistically those who spend the most $ are men from like 18 to 40. That's why they attract the advertisers they do because their show is targeted for men of that age range. If they were aiming for 40+ they'd attract advertisers like Craftsman and Maytag. | Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 02 | D&M say that alot of O&A's listeners are 16 yr olds. It's true that alot of High School kids listen to O&A. A lot of HS kids listened to D&M when they were on mornings at WAVA years ago back when they were the wacky morning crew. honk honk. That audience grew up and gave D&M a long standing #1 rating in DC. Those 16 yr olds that Don likes to poke fun at will grow up and still be listening to O&A. Fucking hypocrits. In order to understand D&M's history you really have to live in the DC area. This little war is really turning alot of people off here. I run a shoutcast server from my house and feed it into my office b/c we have horrible reception here. When O&A came on only one guy listens to the live feed from 11-3. They all listen to the previous days replay I put on now. Even the one listener I have is coming around. Doug | ||||

Don said that the trend showed that O&A went from 6.2 to 5.8 BUT they were still #1 in the right demos.... so if they're still #1, why does a small dip like that make any difference? Look at feels with his inside info... LOL, I love it. And those are the 12+ numbers, Don's fave.... what a piece of shit that guy is. | Hanger-On Registered: Mar. 02 | I know both shows spin their rating to their favor. Radio legend has it that if you read the exact numbers over the air it has to be the truth. Arbitron has two major rules, don't lie about the ratings and don't tell how we got em. Monkeys on Mars, coming to a screen near you | ||||
