So what. You are not allowed to voice displeasure at the show when things are not going well. Ever hear of constructive criticism. They have been coasting the last few days. The difference is that Stern fans think everything Howard does is the greatest and they rarely if ever talk bad about the show. We like the show, we listen to the show, we applaud it when it's good and we criticize when it's bad.

They rely very heavily on these contests. If they held them less often they would be more special abd would get girls. I am guessing that average women who are fans of the show are afraid to come in because they will be criticized for not having the perfect 10 body.

The Lady Di, is she gone or isn't she is not entertaining radio although I did like them making fun of her intelligence. Just cut your losses and get rid of her already or keep her. Stop teasing of letting her go or not. Someone brought up the Norton defending Ozzy as a great bit. It was. It was not really funny but it was entertaining because they had a discussion.

We all still love the show. I still think they are the funniest thing on. Nothing can be perfect, but it is ok to be critical. By the way what happened to a bit that I was looking forward to, the top 10 cringe bits.

Hey cum monkeys! Has ANYONE even MENTIONED the fact that Anthony has been sick since last week and hasn't been able to TALK in a normal voice never mind DO any voices? Don West was supposed to be on the show the other day but there was no reason to have him on if Anthony couldn't go back and forth with him. I'm SURE this pisses him off as much as it does the listeners. Believe me.

i though yesterdays show was good. Tracy morgan was funny, and Listening to norton tear Di apart was hilarious. It was funny listening to how stupid she was. I knew she was a parrot, but who knew she was really that dumb?

They have been running running late lately and cant get all the material in, but that seems to be because they are screwing around a lot. Im not sure why. Probably because ant is sick. Lets be hoinest, hes the real talent behind the show, not that opie isnt awesome or anything. Its kinda like a team whose star player is hurt.

Teen, I am a fan of BOTH shows. I don't think everything Howard does is the greatest. Otherwise I wouldn't listen to O&A. I know O&A have a better show right now, I've discussed Howard's show PLENTY in the past. So did a lot of his fans. They rarely if ever talk about the show? How the Hell would you know that?! I doubt you RARELY IF Ever are even AROUND Howard's fans, much less know their personal listening habits. He has millions of fans and you seem to know what they do. Maybe the ones you attach yourself to don't think anything he does is wrong, but plenty do. Where do you think people like me came from? How we got this way? By questioning Howard. What the hell does that have to do with what I said, anyway? Reguardless, the one thing I never did, was to pretend I knew how to make the show work. Criticize it, applaud it, but don't make the mistake of thinking that you know how to make it better.

dude, i was generalizing. I listen to Howard too. Hell, I am even on that messageboard. I know it is not all of his fans. Many don't think for themselves and take Howard's words as gospel. O&A have those fans too. The point of this thread is saying that they ahve been coasting lately and not doing the show that we all enjoy. Whether it is a slump, ant's cold, who cares. I like listening to the show and I like being entertained.

My point was that you should be able to post constructive criticism. If I don't like a bit or don't like a show, I am not going to be a zombie and say how great they are. I want to be entertained and for the most part, I usually am.

whether it is because of syndication, i can't stand jesus christ on the dump button.

1)They cannot do most offensive song contest 2.
2)They can't play Brother Joe's Dry vagina song.
3)Many bits they already did on the radio sometimes many times, they can't replay.
4)They have to use code for even the simplest of words.
5)They can't do What's in my pants anymore.

Syndication is good for these contests that they have and we actually have some pretty good people on this board from other cities, but other than that, I can't think of many more positives that came from syndication.

Syndication has brought some good things for the show. I'm not ripping it. For all the "Newer" listeners, if you like the show now, you dont know what you missed. Even if you download some of the older bits, they dont do the older shows justice. Say what you want about him, I always looked foward to Fri. (or sometimes Mon.) for Spaz's week in review. That was some of the funniest moments on the show. The show has evolved over the past year or so, but somtimes I wish we could hear some PreSyn. style bits.

I know what you mean I was happy for the boys when they got syndicated but at the same time the show has lost a tiny bit of edge. I wish we could have it both ways. Unfortunatly with syndication you get fucking assholes who have to report teen W.I.Y.P. to the fcc.

The sad mess of a women that reported them did so becuse of the disgusting fat sardine smelling lip dragging mess that is in their pants, they can't even get a dog to lick.

Fair enough Teen. Just didn't want you to think I was a Zombie. But still, I think the show is fine. Remember the bar is really high at this level, it's hard to get that for four hours every day, forever. Also, what you hate could be what someone else likes so it's impossible for them to please everyone. They just have to follow their instincts, and sometimes when you do that at a crossroads in your career, you stray from where you came from. No matter WHAT your job is. If it were that easy, we'd all be doing it.

I think it did, they are already talking about how they forget to talk about things sometimes. They even asked if people could come up with things they teased, but never got to. It seems they were reading the board. It kind of referred to a lot of the things we brought up.

Not always bad radio.
The only problem with syndication is the dump guy and certain bits that cannot be played anymore.
Granted O&A have their shit days, but they do have their good days too.
You either like it, not, that that's how it goes.

Yesterday's show had little prep and it was very funny. The "let's have kids look in their parents drawers" bit produced some good moments (thank god my daughter doesn't listen to the show)

Syndication is a mixed bag. Yeah, it brings them more attention which means they can't get away with as much, but the notoriety and financial backing from Infinity should increase, allowing them to do more.

I don't think that less contests would mean more women.
a) there are far fewer woman listeners than male listeners
b) most women are less likely to do goofy stuff than guys. (thank god most of the women here are an exception). Like they said, if they need 10 guys for something 50 show up; if they need 10 women, 2 or 3 show up.

I am guessing that average women who are fans of the show are afraid to come in because they will be criticized for not having the perfect 10 body

I think this would be the case no matter how many contests they run. Also, would you WANT more women who look like stalker patty to participate?

More than any other show, I think they realize what they do and listen to the feedback from the fans. That doesn't mean they'll do whatever some jerkoff wants, but they will listen if it makes sense.

2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (modified version)(You gotta try and believe....)
1.Hate the Braves with PASSION and extreme prejudice
1a. Try and go a week without having to punch a wall in frustration after watching the Mets play
2. 90 Wins and somehow get the Mets into playoffs this year
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
3a.Have team understand it is OK to get a hit with runners on base.
4. Mets win World Series (after divine intervention)

I am not talking about the disgusting ant body looking homeless females. I am talking about the average woman who might have a little paunch on her stomach, or slightly big thighs or butt. My point is that they set the bar way too high and I would think for most women they don't have the stripper body. You can still be average and be sexy. I am talking on a scale of 1-10, the 5 through 7's, where most women fall into. I am not talking about Patty who is in the negative category.

Now that I reconcider No prep= more better radio.

You never know what's going to happen some days it's cringe at it's best other days it's cringe at it's worst. I have a stronger suspicion now that it has more to do with Anthony's voice recently than anything else. I never laugh my ass off as much as when he doies Tyson or Tom Brokenjaw.

IMHO this is what put's the boys so far above Stern. His show is so fucking maped out now it's boring. Yawn ok another stupid contest with another stupid porn star and a retarded listner. Yawn!!!!

I agree Martin, It's almost like a bit checklist. They should just keep doing what they think is funny. Keep experimenting, keep it fresh. So what if it doesn't work every time. Follow your instincts. This point is where Howard's show started to go downhill as well. It's like these shows find bits that work, and keep trying to recreate them into some hybrid bit instead of moving on and doing something new.I wouldn't be saying this if I hadn't seen it happen to Howard. Learn. Use those balls! They still do though. And just listening to them is still as entertaining as hell. Fan interaction will always be good. I still think they're going along pretty good. I trust them.

Hello I'm just a nobody O&A fan but I am very
good at math. Your equation is incorrect.
No show prep = vacation for the cast and
crew is coming soon
Sometime last year Opie made a cute
comment about "winging it" for 2 weeks before
vacation. Part of the inimitable charm of O&A

O&A listiner since 98 / Personally I think the
shows sounded a lot better this week than it has
recently, it sounds like the old days before
syndication. Bottom line it's still funny and a
lot better than all the other garbage big corps.

its not necessarily bad radio. look at it this way... when i listen to the show, its kind of more like hanging out with my friends. same jokes, same sick humor. they're not ALWAYS going to have new stuff ready... so give them a break. they're still always fuckin funny and amusing.
