Last night I was one of the many “Winners” of Tickets and VIP passes to see Buckcherry & Monster Magnet. After winning the tickets over the radio we were each instructed on what our prize was and what we were supposed to expect. This included: 2 VIP passes to the O&A sky box at the Vanderbilt, free drinks, a Meet & greet w/ the bands and O&A. After entering the Vanderbilt and heading up to one of the three Booths (2 for the winners and 1 for Opie and the rest of the WNEW staff), a waiter came by and took all our drink orders, when he came back he handed us a bill. Realizing something wasn’t right everyone in the booths turned to each other with a confused look on their faces and asked, “Weren’t we told free drinks?” When we asked the waiter about this he told us that he was not told anything about complimentary drinks and would go get his manger. Soon after, a representative of the Vanderbilt came to see us he told us that this was a WLIR 92.7fm event and that there were no instructions or deals with WNEW to serve us complimentary refreshments or anything else. We were then told to get receipts for our drinks and get a hold of the WNEW representative that was there. And of course who was our WNEW rep…“Martian” Earl. Realizing that drinks the drinks weren’t that big of a deal we asked the Vanderbilt rep about the Meet & Greet with the bands. He told us that all we have are skybox passes and that there is no scheduled meet and greet w/ any of the bands. Finally Black Earl came up to the booths to answer our questions and told us “There was never and complimentary drinks promised” (even though we each were told on the phone that we were) and that he was ”working on getting some of the Band members to come upstairs”. All of which had never happened. Of the Staff that showed up were Opie (minus Anthony), Sandy (damn she’s a fine bouriqua), Ben, Steve C., Eddie from “Big Brother” and Black Earl. But they were sectioned off in there own booth, which made it extremely uncomfortable wander into to try to have a brief conversation. Also the staff booth was only one serve complementary bottles of water and appetizers. Even thought the prize seemed like it was going to shit all a small group of the real O&A fans bonded together to make our own fun, like turning a WNEW banner into a big “Show us you FUNBAGS! WOW” sign and sneaking girls up from the crowd into the booth to get physical. Also we got a free concert out of it. Either way Opie was cool and he heard our problems and asked us to bring it up on the air tomorrow. But If I should be in class when the topic is brought up this is my testimony. -I see land in the distance and its name is CLEARCHANNEL.... O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00	OK, I wasn't there, so this is really just an observation based on what you wrote, but I just want to know why you gave Earl such a hard time. It's really wasn't his fault that there was a SNAFU, he's just the guy who actually tried to help you guys out (based on your post). I mean, I think it sucks that you guys got hosed on the meet-and-greet and drinks, but from your posts it seems like you're blaming Earl. Just because the guys on the air give him a hard time doesn't mean the fans have to. OK, I'll get off the soap box now

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00	No, we were all cool with Earl When asking him about what was going on. We didn't blame him. We are all fans and basically expected there to be problems. We did get a free show out of it and all the WNEW crew were cool about hearing our complaints. We put total resposibility on whoever is in Charge of Promotions for the station. Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00	That sounds pretty dissapointing man... I would be pretty upset too if that would have happened to me. FU to WNEW for pulling that shit. Well, at least you got to talk to Opie. I hope I get to hear about it on the air today, you know they will defenitely bitch about that one. I mean, if you run a radio station w/ a #1 afternoon show, you would at least think they would cover all expenses at a concert event, it's not like they are giving away a trip to the carribean or $10,000 like other radio shows. You know, at this point, even though I would prefer for O&A to stay afternoons- fuck it, it's things like this that makes it time to teach those fucks at WNEW & Infinity that they have to take their heads out of their ass. If they go mornings then Radio Edit's ratings will go down, and Infinity will regret having had screwed O&A. "Kyle, I'm just a stupid piece of crap..." Just some nuggets (with corn) of wisdom from the bottom of the Jersey City Sewer Department- I love stealing Faceman's ideas & making them my own bc/ I like to post boring non-sense.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00	Window, at least you saw the show for free, and experiences are priceless anyway. save for the promotional clusterfuck, sounds like a good time was had. At the end of the show though, you should've demanded to be driven back in the WNEW Aztek... <<<

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00	I personally spoke to Stinky. And the other half of the group spoke with a female intern named, I believe, Kelly. Earl told us it was not in the copy he wrote, but we all were told this by 2 different people on the phones. Either way the beverages weren't the issue it was just another example of how WNEW just doesn't value there prized show. O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01	Obviously it sucks that you were disappointed and didnt get what you expected, but seriously, quit your bitching. You won a contest, got to see a free show, and all you are doing is complaining. Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00	Froy, 1st twice I said I was greatful i got a free ticket, I also had a ball getting stupid with a group of other O&A fans. But i'm just using your board as a way of explaining & Venting what happend to a group of fans that made a troop out to Long Island from Westchester & South Jersey. But, allow me to show my ignorance by asking, what number on the dial is WSOU? I've seen it mentioned a lot in my short time here, but I'd never heard of it before.
