Hot talker WNEW-FM (102.7) appears to have lost much of the momentum it had been building in 2000. The station`s overall share dropped back from 2.0 in the Fall to 1.5, and the ratings for its anchor show, Opie & Anthony, fell sharply from 5.2 in the Fall to 3.7. NEW`s morning show, the Sports Guys, draws but a mere 0.6 share. | ||||

Personally, I think the show is starting to pick up steam again. The guests seem to be getting better, slowly but surely. And the guys still work well together.

Opie knows the biz, and Anthony has alot more to offer. He is not an idiot. Their audience can be so much bigger then prepubescent teenage boys. | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | During the whole chaos of the sttion back in January and for a bit after it I think the show wasn't as good. It was still great, but in tended to lag at times for a bit. Over the past few weeks starting with the show right before their vacation I think the show has gotten back to where it was before the whole fiasco back in Jan. We will see what happens when the spring book comes out in July. The sprng and fall books are more important than the winter & summer books. | ||||

[/Doctor Zachary Smith] I think that a few months ago when they came close to losing thier jobs and all that other drama, they may have slacked off a little bit. I don't think they could ever not be funny, though. After they move or get new contracts with NEW, they will be 100% and kicking ass again. Not that they don't still rule now but they have to get back to comedy and less fighting with other shows and stations. I understand that have to do it but i think they are better when their focus is just on the O n A show. Who am I or any of us to ever complian, though? You all have to admit it that even on their "not so fresh" days they are the BEST in this entire fucken city.What I don't understand though is how they could in a month lose so many listeners. | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Feb. 01 | One of the reasons the ratings went down was as we can see the ratings survey was probably sent to older or more "diverse" listeners and screwed up everyone's numbers from the king of all shitholes to our heroes but the truth is out there and the real numbers will be back! | O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | I think the xfl thing was a problem, people werent interested in it and O and A were putting it over on the radio alot which may have turned off some people in the last ratings book, sort of what happened with edit when he was putting over his movie. not having anything else on the station to help them hurts also and goddammit would a fuckin couple of billboards bankrupt the company.O and A make so much money for the company how about the company put some money back into the show. but i think this was a "strange" trend and will pick up when the next trend comes out on may 18th</i><br />

| Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | I dont know if you will see much in the next trend because 2/3 of it will be based on the winter book. The spring book which comes out in July would determine it better. Thats of course if they stay with NEW & they are on WNEW in June. | ||||
