Well, it seems that "the faithful listeners" should now be labeled "the UNGRATEFUL listeners".

(Has the smoke cleared? May I pat myself on the ass now? ooops I meant back...God why do I always think like a perv?)

The show will be changed, its inevitable, but I don't think on such a "grand" scale. They're now in other markets besides NY, so they might have to shift a little here, cut a little there, etc. NO BIG DEAL! As to the whole "going over what we already know" bits that have been going on, DEAL WITH IT! Other cities for the most part know nothing of O&A, and they need to to a "meet and greet" by using some of their classic bits. OK, so we know them and what they're about - its still funny! Its not like its been three months and the same thing is still going on. Give the guys a break, they went through contract negotiations and went live through syndication all in the same week!

Basically, everyone on ALL sides could probably chill the fuck out a little.

On the one hand you've got the "faithful listener who doesn't want anything to change." They LOVE the Opie & Anthony show, and they all have their own reasons for loving the show, and the general concensus is that the show kicks ass. These folks are schizing a little bit because they are worried that the very thing they love will be sullied. Maybe they're a little selfish because they had the O&A show to themselves for all this time, but for the most part they're worried for, what in their heads, are legitimate reasons.

These people were cheering for "Syndication NOW" but when NOW happened they just got a little bit pessimistic and started jumping to conclusions. These folks might just be naturally pessimistic, who knows?

Then you've got your laissez-faire, unconditional love crowd who trust Ope and Ant to do the right thing, knowing that whatever they do will be, in all probability, "the right thing." They're taking a rational approach and saying "Hey, let's sit back and think about this for a second. They've achieved the dream, more people will know about this great thing that we know about, the profile of the show will get bigger and as a result the show will get even better than it already is." Blind faith and unconditional love are great things, but the first crowd love the show just as much as you guys only in a different way. They worry because they love!

Care to guess who's worrying the most? My bet is Opie and Anthony themselves. And this of course means that really there ISN'T anything to worry aobut! You can tell on the air, and in their warnings that they don't want to piss anyone off and they want to try their damndest to make the show great for everyone. They're probably struggling with themselves trying to figure out the MAGIC FORMULA so that all sides are appeased and everyone's happy.

There is probably pressure either externally or internally to get those ratings numbers up sooner rather than later. Think about working under that sort of pressure, it's a good thing because you know you can hit the big time, but holy crap - you could hit the big time! I can't even imagine it, and it's such a shitty time to be hit with self-doubt, but then it sucks to be human doesn't it?

I guess all I can say personally is that I love the show. I started listening a half year ago or so and I had to try and figure it out on the fly, trying to figure out what all the references meant, why some faggot named "Gay Marco" was allowed to call in and tell the entire NY listening area about how much man ass he got the night before and why some limo driver and a stalker got their own radio show, but I did.

It's definitely possible to figure the show out on your own without the Cliff Notes version of the show given to you, and some might say it's a little more enjoyable that way, but I'd also say that one of the reasons I started listening in the first place was just tuning through the dial and stumbling across "Guess what's in my pants."

Egads, I was won over by a bit! That old gag! And so too will people be won over by bits and then listen to the show more and more to understand all the "secret handshake" stuff that we all love.

Trust the boys to do what's right. Second-guessing you are doing out of love for the show, it's understood, but you might just make everyone neurotic by doing that.

Trust O&A to do what's right and to forge ahead and take the country by storm. If you've learned anything, and this needs to be said again and again, Opie and Anthony always win in the end.

Syndication is a GOOD thing. Having MORE people LOVE the show is a GOOD thing. How much more enjoyable are your afternoons because of O&A? Shouldn't everyone have that chance?

Yep!

They are more prompt in getting to commercials. Fewer live reads so far. I used to hang in there during the spots because you'd never know when they'd break in with some funny shit. They may not be able to do that as often with syndication.

Friday's show was close to normal O&A. I think Jay Mohr & John Salley saved them - I didn't like that sex chick. Why was she on for so damn long???

To IAMANTHONY-
I haven't read through all of the posts, but had to respond to yours.
THANK YOU! I had no fucking idea what he was talking about either. I guess if one of the hosts
