As expected, Talk WCKG/CHICAGO will clear OPIE AND ANTHONY in evenings on a tape delay, reports the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES' ROBERT FEDER. The WESTWOOD ONE and WNEW-F/NEW YORK team will air 9p-1a, with FISHER ENTERTAINMENT's JOHN AND JEFF following them at 1a and local programming to be determined slipping into the 7-9p slot. PREMIERE's PHIL HENDRIE gets dropped in the shuffle.

Personally I think they have an odd format for a late-night slot, at least from a listener's perspective.

It would be cool though to have steady traffic on the board 24/7.

Froy one question though?I know there are people here from 9 to 5 at one time during the day.(Yeah I need a life).But at night how many people are logged on?And would there be an influx of people that would really affect the running of the board?

That sucks that Phil Hendrie is no longer on CKG. He is a great talent. They should have kept Hendrie and bumped the lame John and Jeff.

I truly dont think that time slot will hurt them. I have called the show about 5 times and it did not particularly enhance my enjoyment of it. The only way tape delay would hurt them would be if someone ran them the next morning. This would hurt them because they would be talking about stuff a day behind. I think if they pull in a high 2/ low 3 rating in their slot then they will be destined for greater things at that station.

This may only be temporary. Steve Dahl who currently does afternoons on WCKG contract is up sometime in July. Dahl may resign & stay in the afternoons (which wouldn't change anything with O&A) or resign & move to middays or just not resign (O&A would most likley move to afternoons with either 3-7 (one hour delay, or live 3-6CT & 6-7 tape, or on live from 2-6CT)

It's actually pretty good that O&A aren't up
against Dahl. He's a local legend there and that
would ultimately result in a lot of trash-talk in
the end. O&A are on good terms with Dahl right
now, and give him full props -- after all is was
Dahl who is the father of shock radio, NOT Howard
Sperm. He may not do it as well as O&A do it (or
as well as Sperm used to), but he deserves
respect.

Couple things here. 1) For all the hype about the madness of O&A and their listeners, we're actually pretty mellow people. We only attack something if we are provoked into doing so. Don't expect all-out war with Mancow immediately. Remember in the summer when he dissed O&A on WCW? They didn't even mention his name. They realize that if you rip on people below you, it only makes them more popular. 2) Is this a CBS/Westwood One/Infinity Station in Chi-town?
