| O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | Is anyone else surprised / impressed at how quickly this is all progessing? I'm not saying they don't deserve it and that doing it quickly is making up for it not being done sooner, but I am really surprised at how rapidly all these radio stations (businesses in their own right) are able to shuffle around radio talent while a larger company (Infinity) is able to coordinate the whole mess, like contracts, scheduling, and all that other crap. I am a lowly peon at a rather large company, and I know how sluggishly it makes any moves...especially moves which require coordination with lots of the other little companies it owns. Either they are getting rid of R&F and putting O&A there, or they are moving D&M. the 7-11 spot in DC is The Sports Junkies, they are syndicated and are succesful, so i don't think they will be moved at all...they are what the Sports Guys! tried to be but failed at. if anything it'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming months  | ||||

WJFK is NEVER going to move Don and Mike out of afternoon drive. it won't happen. for the same reason D&M couldn't get live up in NY, O&A won't be able to go live in D.C., at least not on JFK. Sure, they knew that syndication was going to be a big point in the negotiations, and I bet they were smart enough to look across the stations and see where they could plug them in. But for as quick as it has been happening, it still has been done half-ass. Infinity has done little to properly prepare the markets/current station listeners for the OandA arrival. Much like when Tom Lick-ass first came on WNEW. It jsut kind of happened. Sure, the boys did their part to give the guy some listeners (the on-air tirades, etc) but the simple point is, if these stations knew/know OandA (or any new program) are coming, it would be easier to build up listeners. A few promos with OandA clips (done WNEW style...something that would catch the listen off guard) and you create a buzz. If the station website has an OandA link on the first page, along with a few "coming soon" promos, it gives the listener multiple opportunities to learn/prepare for a show. I know...senseless rant. But as a former radio consultant it bugs me to see something done to get done, as opposed to getting done right.  | ||||
