I get it that alot of people, even around here hate these guys when they first listen to them, but c'mon. I have thought these guys were EFFIN' hilarious since I first tuned 'em in. I mean really how do u not find these guys funny as hell. Somebody needs to throw a cup full of testicular cancer on these morons.
Thanx, what do y'all think?

It takes time. If you are used to something and it changes, you normally don't like it. Hey, before O&A, I listened to Mike and the Mad Dog. I heard Stephen Lynch, play new songs if I were gay and the Priest song live in the studio for the first time and I was hooked.

"it's not what I'm used to." Seriously though it's new, they are unprepared for O&A Radio and if they're used to something else it's hard to make such a quick transition. But it's like the Matrix, these people sound like they're willing to kill in order to hear Stairway again (nothing against STairway of course)

A lot of hate has to do with the last 20 years of Stern brainwashing. You know: "I'm original, everybody ripped me off". You'd be surprised how many people buy into it without even thinking.

Who did it prior to Stern? Not saying theyre not funny, but their show is very Stern-influenced.

Mayor of Sloatsburg,

You beat me to the punch! Those were the two that
I was thinking of. Anyway, Stern did take from
plenty of other influences. As far as the shock
format, I think other non-radio shows like
Saturday Night Live probably influenced Stern.

When I first listened to O/A 3 years ago I didn't
like them at first, but then I realized that they
approached their format from a totally different
angle, not to mention that they have another
important factor in their show - they're funny!

You think that their show is more Imus/Dahl-influenced than Stern-influenced?

Everybody steals from everybody in that business, it's just a part of the life ya know. What's important is how u expand on those "stolen" ideas. And what u come up with on ur own, as well as how u present it. I certainly won't deny that Stern was great for a long time, but all he does is whine like a little prick now and I'm tired of it. U know what tho, if OnA ever sign 5 year $100 million contracts each, they'll probably start to suck too.

It's The same thing with other cities.
It takes time, and acceptance. that's how change is no longer change.

Even Scottso had strippers in the studio in the '70s.

Is it me or is Howard Stern really scared of our Boys?
I noticed that. even Don and Mike aren't that scared of O&A, and they want Afernoons LIVE!
Jeez if Howard kept his Suck shut, O&A wouldn't have the ammo to expose him.

Didn't O&A have clips of him talking about the strippers Roger? Sure Howard Stern might have pushed the bar but the bar was already there and set by many before him. He wasn't ethe first to talk on the radio.

Yeah, I wasn't alive in the 70s to actually hear Scottso with strippers. I listened to Scottso up until he got fired. Occasionally (when I wake up early enuf) I catch him on Q. When O&A first came to WNEW, I was so happy they changed the lineup. I loved them from day one. I guess if you are happy with the music format you are listening to, suddenly having O&A on would piss you off.

Two things Ive noticed:

1. Most of the people here refer to O & A as "the boys". "Oh, the boys are up to their wild shenadigans again!" These guys are almost in their 40's, theyre not mischevious young men. The thought is that theyre still young and will blow up soon, but theyre not young.

2. Most fans of O & A have a very anti-Stern mindset, and most Stern fans have a very anti-O & A mindset. Its okay to like both, theyre only radio shows.

And as far as them being Stern-clones, how can any radio show have non-stop sexual/racial humor and naked women and not be somewhat derivitive of the Howard Stern show. Theyre basically expanding on what Howard Stern has been doing for 20 years. I think theyre alright, but theyre no great innovators, which some of you seem to think.

When it comes to the gag-order thing, Im in agreement with most of you. Its probably the smart thing to do on Stern's end, but its a bitch move. I can sort of understand his anger though, considering they belong to the same company. I would be pissed if some guys (who most likely wouldnt be who they are if not for Howard Stern) belonging to the same company as I did, were bad-mouthing me. And what really could he have done? O & A are relatively new and unknown, so there isnt a lot to work with, its not like Imus or DaBella. Maybe that political stuff was the true "Beast" at work. He talked of The Beast in his book, crushing his opponents over the radio. He probably wanted to hurt these guys but didnt know how to go about it. Regardless legal action was a bitch-move.

Got a point there, Blake.
But you know how human beings can be when it comes to something they like and dislike. It goes back to territory and nature, we can't help it.

But there is more out there, so I give it the best shot I can to listen until I draw a conclusion on whether to listen or not.
