| Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01  | The chick gets fired but the Sports Guys are still around? A 1.7 isn't impressive, but its 3 times better than a .5. I know that the Sports guys probably have the toughest slot on the station, but still. If you look at it closely you'll realize that the Chick and RF really have no competition in their timeslots aside form straight music. They should both be doing better than a 1.7. The Sports Guys have to go up against Stern, which is hard to do, but a .5 is still just disgraceful. WNEW should just fire everyone but OA and cut a deal with the other infinity stations that will make a sort of uniform lineup for all their talk stations. This way all the shows can be live and appeal to their key audiences. Girls get moist for the Chevy Blazer. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Wine, don't forget the Stern factor. a) Stern gets big ratings; that leaves less for others b) Stern has no compete clause with Infinity; WNEW can't put on a show that will take away his ratings. That is how Jeremy can spin the Sports Guys bad ratings staying & Chick leaving. Only real answer for 6am-10 is Music; They tried the Sports guys thinking that 6-10 is when WFAN plays Imus. Well, that didn't work. Next step should be Music, since K-rock has Stern, and (contrary to what Howard thinks) I don't think its a conflict with him. | ||||

They fucken tried to hard to be O&A.I really hope they put R&F in the 7-11 timeslot.They are better as a night show. But if they put D&M in the 9-12 or 12-3 time slot I am going to shoot my goddamned radio. WNEW once again proving what an inept, clusterfuck of a radio station it is. Sweet Merciful Crap! | ||||

Anychance he fits into the picture? I agree that they should play music in the morning, as an alternative to Stern. However, I do miss the Chick, she was funny and I enjoyed listening to Chuck Nice. If it was up to me I would show Don and Mike the door. I do hope good things happen to Chuck in the future though.:) You Give Me Head, It Makes it Worse. IMHO, key to programming a station is to have programs which flow together; that way you keep lead-in audience. What is target demo for D&M? 50 yr olds from Iowa? I'm not one of the younger O&A fans, but I see them as fresh. Listen to the music they choose for their 20 second highlights, who they're guests are. Listen to D&M and who they're guest are. Couldn't be further apart. Maybe it was D&M's advice to Jeremy that led him to take O&A to a "Cigar Bar" :) | ||||

This is the truth behind our situation, and any other version that you may, or may not hear, will not be the truth. We will no longer be at WNEW. The management has made a decision to move the line-up around and favor some lower-rated, less popular shows over ours. We were told the following by the General Manager, that our ratings are, again, and always have been strong. We've been the second best performing show on the station, after Opie and Anthony, and that we've been the "only other show that has worked" on the station outside of O & A, as well. That we've proven we can build an audience from nothing, not once, but twice and we've shown that our listeners will follow us, even to a more competitive time slot. However, other, for lack of a better word, "political" considerations are taking precedence over performance. A chain of events was set in motion a while ago, and for reasons having nothing to do with us, or our performance, we were to be the sacrificial lamb. Frankly speaking, I was grateful the GM was at least being honest with us, instead of trying to concoct some bullsh** reason to justify their decision. A lot of people are trying to contact Joel at Savethechick.com to organize another Save the Chick campaign. As grateful as we were to you the last time for your massive outpouring of love and effort, we don't want to be saved. Working at WNEW has been like building a house on a fault line. You never know when the earthquake will come and destroy your hard work. We'd rather put all efforts, yours and ours, to finding a new home for the show in New York. At that time, we hope you'll once again be part of our "family", and spread the word about the show. Butch, Chuck and I have loved doing this show with you, and for you, everyday. You have been so responsive, funny, and loyal, and we thank you. We hope to be doing it again with you soon. | Hanger-On Registered: Jul. 01 | If I'm not mistaken, the reason the chick did ok in her ratings when she used to be on from 11 to 2 bfore O&A, was because technically O&A were supposed to be on from 2-7, but per the rating standard the Chick's ratings started at 11 and ended at 3 pm. Now if you remember that whole hour(2to3)they played the "Best Of" O&A. And during that hour as far as ratings were concerened, her show took credit. So O&A were actually helping her by pretty much giving her that hour. That's just something I remember from the first Chick's firing... I am Dirty Sanchez, and I will not be denied! | ||||
