| Hanger-On Registered: May. 01 | OK: Here's the lowdown (Credentials: 24 yrs pc experience, UNIX administrator 15 yrs, email adminstrator, Network designer, and now network design/troubleshooting/ firewall analysis:) 1) MOST large corporations now have AUP's for their employees (Acceptable Use Policies). Almost ALL will ban you from visiting Porn sites. (this oa.com site, seems to still be ok at mine...) Now... 2) Most companies (large-Humongeous) will have software that filters out stuff (like the stuff AOL uses--similar to net-nanny...etc) that will block playboy.com, hustler.com etc. 3) There have been a great number of documented cases where people have surfed to places like this, and then terminiated (aka fired) for not following the AUP's (or wasting company resouces.) 4) Yes, the cache on your pc can be erased. HOWEVER, I as an administrator, (NOT EVEN A firewall administrator!) could VERY easily see where you're going on a regular basis. All I need to do is: a) get your IP address. b) install a small program. c) "SNIFF" all packets from your PC, and see where they're going. d) log it, and get ready to fire you. Now, that being said, the R*E*A*L likelihood of that happening is very slim UNLESS you make yourself a target! Next. DONT surf PURE porn. I (personally) consider Opieanthony.com borderline, (usually no porn here..just bad spelling!) but foundrymusic is WAY past pushing it... and WNEW does go thru my firewall, but I don't visit from my office! Nuff said...to be forewarned is to be forearmed. so...cleaning the cache, REALLY won't do squat! Bye now MEL [boy do I REALLY wish I had karmazin's $$$] Mel-No's. Really. They are represent New England(or the NYC area) nicely. :) Anyway, if I where working at a job with high speed net access. I'd only check news, mail and maybe this board. You wouldn't want to take certain things for granted. I think if you are caught looking at porno at your job, or anyone else comp. Then that person must deserved to be fired. Just my two cents. It's interesting we are talking about this. You know when you go on certain porn sites they will leave something in your bookmarks you didn't mean to. Anyway a female friend of my was using her roomates' computer. She wasn't availlbe that weekend, but she found out porn bookmarks. I went into her history and it turned out that she did look at the porn even though she denied it. Hmm girls interested in porn like guys are?
