Ok to the Guru's of all things. I need your help.
Is there a way to change the Khz of a mpg file? I need to change an 11Khz to a 44.1Khz.To play it on a sony760clie PDA.

ANY help would be GREATLY apprecaited

Yes, there is. What you can do is convert your mp3 to a wav and recompress into mp3 at 44.1Khz.

To do this you'll need a wav recorder/mp3 ripper. Like Total Recorder, Gold Wave or, I think you might be able to do with Music Match.

Realize that this is NOT going to improve the quality of the recording.

It's a lot like increasing the resolution of a photo. Yeah, the number next to dpi changes but, you've still got essecially the same photo.

Anyone has a better way... Feel free to contradict me... I can take it. Really, I can.

*Edit: Oh crap! I did it again... Giving away free help/tech support is gonna break me one of these days. You owe me a WOW. I'll send you a bill ;)

**Edit: First post? LMAO... Is this Chuck (under an assumed identity) trying to get help without letting everyone know that he needed help?

***Edit: "service manger"? This explains why I am constantly dissapointed in customer service. :)

****Eidt: Maybe now that all these mods are hanging around 'SU'... One of 'em can let me know if there is a limit on how many times I'm able to "edit" a post?

**Nope... you can edit as many times as you want :)

*****Edit: Thanks FN, I'll be sure to test the limits of everyone's pacience with this anyway ;)

Ok I'll give it a try thanks VERY much. I got that new sony PDA that does mp3s and avis. But it is a little finky on the file types. I have a few "recordings" that I want to take with me on the go. The quality is fine as is. Good analogy though. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks again

Well total recorder only goes to 32 bit / 24 Hz - I'm told I need an mp3 frequency of 44.1KHz to work. It seems that Total recorder cant do it. I'll try Goldwave next.

easiest and fastest way to make it a .wav is to play it through winamp, using the disk_writer output. then rip the .wav back into .mp3 using audiograbber, audiocatalyst, or one of the other rippers available.

so far, i've not been impressed with sound recorder's capabilities, aside from recording off of my sound card. and to think i paid for it.

I've decided to increase my post count, because I'm going to quit this job anyways. Why not get some status??
