| Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00  | new feed. I set it up this afternoon. I will either be running Ron and Fez in the afternoon or replaying Opie & Anthony last show. Any suggestions? If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me at sblueman22@aol.com. I know they are finally syndicated....but sometimes people can't hear them where they are so it's my way to help out. | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | If anyone out there is trying to set up a stream, go thru live365.com. I was trying to do it thru shoutcast and if you are like me and are not the most computer savvy person out there, your head will be spinning. It took me all of 15 minutes to set up the feed thru live365.com. Hope people enjoy and any feedback would be appreciated. More feeds are more gooder! | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | I ran the feed all night without a hitch. The connection never dropped. I had at the most only 4 listeners, but hopefully today we'll see how many more it can handle. I think the way this feed will work out is that I will play Opie and Anthony's previous show up until Ron and Fez at noon. Then I will switch over to WNEW from 12-7. (some nights I work late so it might have to run past 10 PM, sorry....I hate Don and Mike too. But this doesn't pay shit and I need to pay the goddamn rent). More feeds are more gooder! Oh....and I asked that about my sig pic because I was using tripod and geocities to link my pic and it wasn't coming up. So it comes up now that I use homestead.com. More feeds are more gooder! | Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | Your best bet is to copy and paste the address. Open up winamp or whichever media player you are using and go to play>location>and type in the address. If you have problems with a feed cutting out and are using winamp, there are ways you can set winamp up so it won't cut out as much. go to options->preferences-> then go to imput and highlight the Nullsoft MPEG Audio decoder and click on configure. When it opens click on the streaming tab and set the two prebuffer lines to 50% or less. Then set the Streaming data buffer to 100 or less. Keep trying until it stops cutting out or picks up the feed really fast after cutting out. The quicker your connection the lower you can go on the settings. Hope this helps out. No tinkering will be done while O&A is on. Unfortunatly, I have to work tonight so my feed will have to carry Don & Mike. More feeds are more gooder! The SU FAQ says that we should set the prebuffer and streaming buffer to 100 but Sblueman says we should go as low as possible? Or am I reading it all wrong? If anyone can set me straight, I'd really appreciate it! But it's no biggie -- O&A with skipping is still better than work! :-) | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00 | amy-p: Here's the 411 on Buffer settings... The higher you set it the more it downloads before it starts playing. So: setting it low = short buffer time / more frequent rebuffering Setting it High = long buffer time / less frequent rebuffering For dial-up (56k modem) connections 100Kb is a good "rule of thumb" setting...buffers a little more than can be played while buffering the next 100Kb. Should play pretty smooth assuming a fairly consistant connection rate. You can play with this number (fine tune) up or down 5 to 10 Kb at a time to find the setting that works best for your set up.
