O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	Here are the rules that you MUST follow to avoid not being called a clone, rip-off or copycat of "The King Of All Whiney Egotistical Shock Jocks" 1. Don't talk about anything that you would talk about with your friends. 2. Don't do any wacky voices 3. Don't do any song parodies 4. Don't ever discuss race 5. Don't make fun/ m ake light of any situation. 6 Don't have hot women on your show 7. Don't have any freaky or repulsive people on your show. 8. Don't syndicate your show when you're at the top of your game. 9. Don't do W.O.W. It was created by howard in 1986, only he used a wet mop, a beach towel and a bandana. 10. Don't do any bits involving phones. 11. Don't talk about anything new, topical or interesting. 12. Don't have comedians on your show. and 13. Don't have any interesting personalities on your show. In short, If you're in radio and you want to avoid being called a copycat, just play music for the few hours that you're on each day and be very boring, unfunny and unoriginal. Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01	I don't understand why the Stern fans get so angry. Its not like O&A are on at the same time as Howard. They're not even in competition with each other for ratings. Stern should grow up, he thinks the only person on the radio before him was Marconi. I showed my stuff and I graduated. All mentoring courtesy of canweseeyourstuff.

I give him credit for having the guts to do something risky in the radio industry and paving the way for guys like O&A and Star and Bucwild, but he has to realize that if he hadn't done what he did a couple of decades ago, someone else would have. Jesus, radio is a limited format: you either a) play music b) give news, traffic, weather c) but on a boring talk show d) one of those perfomring arts series for pbs public radio e) make people laugh It's not like anyone tells Anne Rice that she's a Bram Stoker copycat...or that Dean Koontz is a Stephen King clone...the list could go on and on for a variety of diiferent forms of entertainment We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls... The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon. When he bad mouths other talk shows, he keeps the gullable listeners of his show hooked onto him and indirectly order them to pounce on other radio hosts.
