As a college student, I am EXTREMELY offended and pissed off at fellow college students and even faculty around the country who blame the victims of out recent terrorist attack. These scumbags talk about how the US is a horrible place and we had it it coming. To all of these goddamn fools, I have an analogy:

Let's say you and I are students in Junior High and I am a bully. I make fun of you all the time, I get you in trouble, I beat you up, I steal your lunch money, and I make your life a living hell. What do you have the right to do? Can you punch me back in the face? Yes. Can you tell on me? Can you get me in trouble? Yes. What cant you do? You can NOT go to my house and burn it down when my grandma and baby brother are sleeping in it.

Has America made some bad decisions in its history? Yup. But my cousin Lonnie (God rest his Soul) had NOTHING to do with it. As did the other 7000 plus innocent people that were murdered. So a huge Fuck You to these "more educated than thou" pricks that live in our beautiful country. You trash are no better than the monsters we're fighting. While I am not in favor of nukeing and killing all Arabs in the world, it would be nice to see George Dubya do it. Not just so the world would be better, but just to piss these fucking jackasses off even more.

I totally agree with you. It's either we fuck up the terrorists or continue to keep on getting beat up. BTW what school do you go to?

I definitely agree with you for the most part, but no matter how much you hate those people, they have the right to think and say what they think. Part of the reason this country will always be great is the fact that we have freedom of speech. Are all of those assholes wrong? Hell yes. Do they have the right to be wrong? Of course. If they were all eviscerated I wouldn't shed one tear, because they obviously haven't for the thousands of innocents that died on September 11th, but I can't stop them from having an opinion.

No terrorist act perpetrated by a group or person or government is not justified no matter how bad US actions have been(and trust me we've done our own fair share as well) or any other entity for that matter.

I go to York College of Pennsylvania Lent. Wow, Im suprised at all of the feedback already! I posted this like 10 minutes ago! Anyway, I agee with what you said about opinions Lord Devious. I just think its disgusting. And scary. I admit Ive not always been a gungho American. But Ive always had the flag out for holidays, supported the government, etc. These people both students and faculty are in that "radical thought" position that endagers the stability of this country. This is not to be confused with anti-vietnam rehtoric, or anti-war on drugs, or anything like that. Terrorism is a clear and present danger. Dont believe me? Go downtown and check out Church street. People on my campus,(not many, thankfully) have a two wrongs dont make a right attitude. And I always take time out to say "Hey, thats fine. But your city and your cousin are next." If people like this keep this, "we were wrong", and "this attack was justice" attitude, I severely fear what will become of this nation. On a happier note, anyone else hear about that new cancer treatment? It's looking like there is hope afterall.

That would make us the ones burning down the house with their baby brothers and grandmothers in it. we have to act, but carpetbombing everyone with a middle-eastern complexion isn't the answer.

Um not really it's not like they were the ones that KILLED 7000 people. By that statement you are just lessening the true effect of the attack.

Also I think you might confuse some of these people with people that are commenting that equals U.S. misdeeds in the past.

Let me ask you this. Let's say the Vietnamese came over here in the Vietnam War and carpet bombed here and killed countless civilians. Of course they didn't do this but how would you feel? You would be fucking pissed at them and hate them with a passion. Or you would not be hypocritical and say it's just "collateral damage" on our side.

During Breast Cancer Awareness month no less.

Those people who you are talking about oughta know what we're going through here. I'm 20 minutes from ground zero. They should be in my shoes and see what I'm going through. I've moved on with my life after mourning but the attack was very apparent and real contrary to what people around the nation see on TV.

I agree with you CLS, I just chose to ignore that part of the post. College campuses are notoriously liberal NAMBA, unless of course you got to that prison they call BYU, so its not like you couldn't see this coming. I was raised a military brat, so while I don't expect people to be as hardcore American as I am, I do expect intelligent people to at least recognize that the liberties they are ensured in this country beat the hell out of anywhere else on the planet. Hell, even Britain has those tought libel laws.

Hey CLS...how's UM?

Look what you did NAMBA. You got AM all riled up.

NAMBLA prez, it's ok little guy. everyone at the age protests and rebels but they really don't do it for a reason. I was like that.
As for what they say, let me tell you this, if these college kids who are protesting just to protest paid attention to current events and history, maybe, just maybe, they would understand.
We all remember or the Vietnam war so easily. But yet, we forget about WWI and WWII, wars that were for the right thing.
War is a regrettable necessity.

Maryland has a pretty good mix...its not nearly as liberal as NYU or Columbia are, but thats probably because its a little farther south. there is a lot of very left wing liberal sentiment (particularly from my gov't teacher, who's basically a super left-wing anarchist), but i think that the views aren't as radical as the ones NAMBLA is talking about.

and LD, I'm having an amazing time...UMD is great - hey we're even kicking ass in football lol

Don't hold you breath on Maryland football climbing any higher than they already have, but at least they're deflected a little of the carwreck that is the Washington Redskins (thank god I'm not a Redskin fan). Reading the Washington Post sports page these days is like a daily comedy fest.

Since my drunk ass failed out of college I have no idea how the atmosphere is at my old school, but I'm curious to know. Anybody on the board go to BU?

lol AM - he was planning on protesting at the WTO meetings before they got cancelled, and told the class "if i'm not here the tuesday afterwards, that means i got arrested and you don't have class" LOL

i think you would enjoy his views on things.

EDIT - LD, if we beat UVA this week, that means we have a legit shot at going at least 8-3 and getting a good bowl game - so FU! :) lol

I think the hardest thing for me at this stage is the fact that I dont know whats going to happen. I REALLY cant understand how people could say that this is just retaliation. But the thing that gets me is that life in this world is going to be very different from now on. I agree with what everyone has been saying here, and Im sorry for getting AM rielled up [Farley voice: What were you thinking?] I just dont what the right answer is. Is killing innocent people the answer? I would think not, but what if it is? Is overthrowing governments the answer? I dont know. Invading Afganistan and slaughtering hundreds of thousands of people will do one of two things: Piss a lot of people off and America will face even more terrorist attacks. Or scare the fucking shit out of everyone else in the world with puney armies so that they NEVER want to cross us again. I really dont know what the right answer is. But I know that Bin Laden has to go. Just like what Rudy said to the UN yesterday, terrorism must be attacked. No more of this pussy footing around. Do it with guns or do it with bombs or do it with words. I dont care. I'm just sick of looking over my shoulder.

These people who have all these theories and all the answers to the world's woes can suck the hepatitis off my stomach after i blow my nice juice rape juice on it.

These people think they are the next great thing and that no one has thought of what they know yet. These people feel they have all the answers to our national security yet they can't organize their own rooms. They wanna be put in charge and be heard yet their voices haven't changed nor have their balls dropped yet. Try letting the people we elected to run this country run it and leave theories to oliver stone.

You know it's funny, now i think about (after re-reading this threead) I dont see any protesting at St. Johns (still it's a commuter school even though they made dorms about 3 yrs ago). There are a lot of panel discussions and prayer meetings (its a catholic school). All the Muslim groups condenm this stuff.

Honestly I applaud SJU for dealing with the incidents excellently.

nambla, i am all for killing these mother fuckers, but i can't help but put partial blame on the us for what happened. security was non-existant, and therefore the tragidy that was sept 11, occured. it had litle to do with allowing arabs to live in america, they found the fault in our system, and unfortunatly, it cost close to 7000 lives. we supported thses terrorists in their countries, and they came to destroy ours, but, american security is to blame.

Here's another one: From the NY Post
It's a commentaruy from a columnist a story reported in the paper.

quote:

October 3, 2001 -- SO this is what passes for academic freedom these days.
If you visited City College at lunchtime yesterday, you would have heard professors explaining that the murder of 6,000 innocents at the World Trade Center was payback for:

A. The American ruling class's attempts to squash non Judeo-Christian culture.

B. Colonialist oppression of people of color.

C. The capitalistic zeal to divide and conquer the workers of the world.

The fuzzy-headed academics must have eaten a few too many magic mushrooms.

In a forum attended by about 200 students, dubiously titled "Threats of War, Challenges to Peace," the unprovoked attack on the trade center was repeatedly referred to as "the incident." The terrorists were fondly described as "freedom fighters."

CCNY was previously known as the taxpayer-funded platform for the anti-Semitic ravings of Professor Leonard Jeffries. Now, the once-proud institution has evolved into a breeding ground for academics who are too blind, stupid or intellectually dishonest to tell the difference between the divisive war in Vietnam and the coming war against terrorism that's uniting Americans.

The peacefest kicked off with Professor Marina Fernando, who charged that as a result of America's promise to wipe out Osama bin Laden, "We have already created a human tragedy of monumental proportions" for Afghan refugees.

"This is because of the blood lust that follows the Sept. 11 tragedy," charged Fernando, director of CCNY's International Studies Program.

If you want to see blood lust, professor, get off your rump and travel south to the graveyard that was the World Trade Center.

Then there was Professor M.A. Samad-Matias, who framed the attacks as Islamic resistance to Western exploitation.

"Countries sitting on mineral-rich deposits with fast-growing birth rates - to some people that's a threat," said the anthropology professor.

"Despite all the colonialization, Muslims are able to resist the Western mindset, the Madison Avenue clothing designs . . . to maintain a separate economy," Samad-Matias said.

If only the terrorists kept themselves separate from Western airplanes.

Professor Walter Daum, a proud relic of the '60s, said, "The ultimate responsibility [for the attacks] lies with the rulers of this country, the capitalist ruling class of this country."

There was a bit of muted dissent. Those who disagreed weighed their words carefully against the dominant anti-American and anti-Israel sentiment.

I applaud one older man who complained aloud about the pointlessness of focusing on "root causes" of terrorism.

"Terrible things were done to Germany after World War I, and we could have made the case that if you were nice to Hitler," he wouldn't have murdered millions, said the man, who did not identify himself.

"There is hardly any evidence these thugs were responding to the evils of capitalism. It's more likely they were reacting to this country that allows women to wear bikinis."

He made sense. And he was booed.

1) NAMBLA Prez - SORRY for your loss, bro.

2) Are WE perfect? NO, but it PISSES me off to no end when 'people' nitpick about our policies. WE GIVE aid to SOOOOO MANY countries and what happens, WE get shit on. It's not gonna happen, but it would be interesting to have the US say F y'all and let the rest of the world fix their own problems and we worry about ourselves for once. Then they will realize whenever a problem happens, who the one they run to.
