Cancel their hometown show in Boston?!
Then they add new shows going on sale today and tomorrow in San Jose and Denver?!
All the money from tickets to this show in Boston was supposed to go to the 9/11 victims families!!
You fucking maggots can rot in hell.
Talk about forgetting where you come from.
Fucking sell out posers!

You know all these "benefit" concerts, you know who is benefiting? not the vicitms but all these actors and musicians. They are getting great PR notice that all the people doing all these "benefit" shows and concerts have an upcoming album or tour or movie or book. Look at even someone like my hero Paul mccartney, he did a pretty decent benefit show. But coincidentaly he had a record coming out plus he writes a new song promoting freedom and america and he puts it on the album which will no doubt help sales. Plus at the benefit does he sing our old favorite beatle and mcartney songs? Nope he sings stuff off his new album plus he sings the freedom song twice none the less or possibly it was 3 times. And he is not the only one who is doing all this. if you wanna benefit sing your old shit which we love stop pushing your new shit.

Plus you know what enough benefit shows to get your fuckin names out there, I don't know how many billions have been collected, yet how much has actually been given to the victims and to the city and state to rebuild? Enough raping peoples good wills for money and start distributing the money.

actually, he did do yesterday.but even so, he did too much unknown stuff.
and i have a different problem with all these benefits.they make most of their money through ticket sales, usually.they get lots of donnations, but still most is probably tickets.and everyday, i hear radio stations giving out tons of tickets for these things.what is the point of giving away something that you paid no money for to send somebody to a charity event?if the person buys a ticket, they gaurantee some money towards the cause, but if you win a good seat, you may not give anything and basically waste the spot where sombody who would want to help could go

GO BIG BLUE!

This is the song that doesn’t end, yes it goes on and on my friend. Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was, but they’ll continue singing it forever just because this is the song that doesn’t end yes it goes on and on my friend. That's the point I was trying to say in the KiNdness of Strangers thread, but I was called a cynic.

quote:

Archivist Alert

"Oh and Slash - you're really a cynic huh? ;)"

"Seriously though, that was nice of the lady in Iowa to do that. Whether or not she did it for herself doesn't matter. Whatever motivates a person to do a kind thing is all that matters. It does demonstrate that most people are good."

"Never have I realized how cynical (although he might deny it) Slash is."

"I don't think it matters two shits why she did it, she didn't have to do anything at all. So she feels better doing something for someone else, shame on her for being human. Most importantly I'm sure it was appreciated by the person the woman intended to help out, the mother of the fatherless child........"

This benefit shit is as much Bullshit as the Red Cross and Religion. It is all to benefit themselves with careers and paychecks. It is and will always be about the W.I.I.F.M (What's In It For Me) Factor. Greed is natural.

This terrorist attacks were perfect timimg for the recording industry. A time(4th Quarter of the year - Holiday Season) when most record releases occur(by the major artists anyway), and 99% of greatest hits are released.

It's either, they individually(i.e. Aerosmith) or a group effort(i.e. McCartney - VH1) that spawns these self-serving events. However, as far as the group things are concerned, I think the artists themselves don't have the balls to question it for fear of looking stupid / selfish. It's either a.) They know how it will help their carrer or b.) The fear being ostracized ala Richrd Gere. There is no way they can be oblivious to how these decisions affect the buisness of show. Hell as Gonzo pointed out about McCartney having a new cd coming out, so did Mellencamp, 4 days prior to the VH1 concert. He did 1 new song "Peaceful World" which was just too damn ironic, and "Pink Houses" which is about as anti-american as Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A."

"Real Heros rise to the occasion, and slip quietly away" - Tom Brokenjaw
