Kid, you're entitled to not want to fight, but please don't criticize those who are willing to or question their motives, thanks to those people, you're sitting behind a computer while they're sitting in Afghanistan.

MILF, my post above saying, your logic was flawed and all that was not serious. I was teasing you, and sLASH.

I will not join the armed forces, it's not for me. There are plenty of people who feel the need or desire to do so, and that's fine for them. Some people are content to dig ditches or change bedpans. I am not. I chose to go to college (what? DeVry IS a college) so that I don't have to work like a hump for the rest of my life.

My point was that I, KID AFRIKA, do not have to, nor will I, be fighting in any war. I will not be flying a flag in some false show of support for a government that I don't necessarily agree with. I know that this is the best country in the world and I am happy to be here. However, this country is far from perfect, and it is certainly not above criticism.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger
those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is K1d when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Faceman says I'm an "a-hold".

They know that deep down inside people are selfish and what they want most is to

"feel good."

MYLTF replying to SLASH:

To which I responded, so what? If they do good, great.

I am saying that the only REAL good they are doing is self serving.

Is it just that you don't want some people to have more money than others? Is that your problem? Do you think that rich people are bad?

That's not it at all. I am just questioning how they acrue their money.

MYLTF wrote:

Here's a real life example, maybe you can point out what the problem is...I own a business, for arguments sake, let's say I sell flags. I employ people, I pay taxes (a portion of which goes to social programs), I pay salaries. My employees spend their money as they see fit, some on themselves, some on others. Now along comes Slash and his army and everyone decides that buying a flag is bad. My business goes down the crapper. My employees get laid off so now they have no money to spend on anything other than what they absolutely need. For that matter, neither do I. So there go my corporate taxes, I now collect unemployment, and maybe I'm one of the homeless who's hoping for some help. Yes, money makes the world go round, spending is a good thing. And what logical argument is there that just because people are buying flags they're not also giving to the homeless?

A buisness, selling flags and other patritiotic paraphernalia, started before or after 9/11? Because, that is what this thread is essentially about. I never said that people buying flags from a reputable pre 9/11 buisness was a bad thing. Please don't put words in my mouth.

I think by know we've seen those "The American sprit collection" commercials where a bunch of idiots from New Jersey are trying to market off of Sept. 11. In the package they sell a clip on [to your car) flag, a flag with "God bless America" or something of the sort, and a few crap pins.

But wait! 15% of the proceeds go to disaster relief!

Scumbags. You don't market patriotism.

But here I am the other day in midtown and on every 20th car or so I see the
flags attached to the cars. Don't you people realize you are making people rich from patriotism? These people aren't Americans, they're filthy scum who'll do anything for a buck!

I am well aware that there are many buisnesses that sell flags etc., that have been around for a long time, and it is these buisnesses that will still be there when it being patriotic isn't so much in style as it is now. "The American Spirit Collection" as well as the guy selling this stuff out of his car on a highly trafficked street corner will be long gone. These are the people we should not support. If it comes to making your own, if you are patriotic and ya want to show support, or encouraging these fucks on the street or infomercials, I say make your own. If you want to support a buisness that was established prior to 9/11, and they aren't "price gouging," I am supportive of that too. It's only the fly-by-night shit that pisses me off, as well as the people who support them.

You apparantly have me confused with AdolescentMasturbator ;).

I guess you ultimately believe that people only care about themselves.

Well, in that case you're hanging out with the wrong people.

No, I am saying that "ultimately" people only care about themselves, NOT only.

Real life example, NOT JUST FOR ARGUMENTS SAKE: Just two days after the WTC crumbled to the ground, someone said to me that this will be a great boost in jobs, especially in the tech field (in the NYC area), because they are going to need a lot of people to rebuild what was destroyed. They weren't being insensitive, they were being realistic. They were also, if only subconsciously, looking out for themselves.

Since you apparantly missed the point of this thread, I hope I was able to clear up some of the ambiguity.

Yes, to some extent I did, but despite that I stand by my responses. I think more importantly, I misunderstood your views and you didn't understand mine

I hope we’re all clear now, or maybe we could go out for a beer and argue some more.

Well, I dunno, are you really a "Momma I'd Like To Fuck?" 'Cause you and I really have that David Addison (Bruce Willis) & Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) from Moonlighting thing going, and quite frankly, I'm about to bust a nut :)
