ok, its just sad that you need to build yourself up by claiming that another team sucks. I don't like the Mets either, but you don't see me (or any other real baseball fans walking around saying shit like that.

Do you have anything to back up your statement? Does making the playoffs three years in a row, and going to the series last year qualify a team as "sucking balls"? I don't think so.

Bastard- I do feel your pain- I really do. All the poor Mets fans in my office too- But a true Yankee fan is not going to dribble on about "Even tho you like the Mets, You are soooo right..."
Fuck Bandwagon Fans & Met fans!
Better?
M1lo-
Nice double post....
You are a Mets fan, you just proved it. And since this thread was authored by a Mets fan & then followed by a bunch of you, I can say whatever I want about Mets fans- By the way, claiming you are a "True Yankee fan" and then saying that a statement of "the Mets Suck" gives Yankee fans a bad name??????????????/ Ever been to the Bronx when The Mets are in town? -Guess not.
If you really are a Yanks fan- do us all a favor, ... Stay home.

Kelly, keep the rivalry alive - be my guest. But you can't call yourself a "true Yankee Fan" just because you feel you have the balls to say "Fuck you - The Mets Suck Balls". All that proves is that you're an arrogant fuck with nothing intelligent to say. My gripe is with Yankee Fans who don't know what the fuck they're talking about - and you seem to fall into that category quite nicely.

SO FUCK YOU! Nothing will change my mind - even if the Mets win 20 games this year they're still my team, and if the Yankmes win a fucking 4th World Series I will still continue to hate anything in pinstripes. Being a true fan isn't about bashing the other team, its about being there for them - Win or Lose - you know the way OJ's mom supported him during his trial! Its all about loyality. Any Dickhead can cheer a winner. A team needs they're fans the most when they're struggling - that's what a true fan is.

In conclusion - fuck you.

Thank you.

That's great...-
Really, have fun at Shea this year. really, enjoy it.
"True fans are there for their team no matter how bad The Mets suck..." Well, my sincere apologies. You are a true fan BECAUSE your team SUCKS, while I, and my 26 years as a Yankee fan, am certainly faking it because the YANKS ARE FUCKIN' AWESOME.
Makes alot of sense... My bad!

The proof that your a Yankee fan shouldn't be because they're "FUCKIN' AWESOME" (I'll actually believe that shit when they beat someone other than KC), the proof that your a fan is your claim that you've been following for the past 26 years! Because if your only motivation for following the Yankmes is because you feel the Mets suck, that only proves you're a Bandwagon Fan.

Maybe I'm crazy (and frankly I don't give a shit if I'm right or not), but it makes perfect sense to me - so fuck you and your team. If I gave a shit about what people thought I wouldn't be a Met Fan.

Yeah, I know.

You are a Mets fan, you just proved it.
How exactly did I prove that? Am I a Mets fan because I have respect for a good team other then the one that I root for?
quote:

And since this thread was authored by a Mets fan & then followed by a bunch of you, I can say whatever I want about Mets fans-
You're right. You can say whatever you want. But how is saying "The Mets suck balls" even remotely constructive? What's the point?
quote:

By the way, claiming you are a "True Yankee fan" and then saying that a statement of "the Mets Suck" gives Yankee fans a bad name??????????????
First of all, yes, I am a true Yankees fan...I have been as long as I can remember. Secondly, you're twisting my words. I didnt say that the statement gives Yankee fans a bad name. I said YOU give Yankee fans a bad name. The fact that you state opinions with no facts to back them up and the utter lack of intelligence in your post are what I'm referring to.
quote:

Ever been to the Bronx when The Mets are in town? -Guess not.
I'll be honest. I haven'y been there during a subway series. However, most Yankee fans--even at Yankee Stadium when they're playing the Mets--are baseball fans, and, even though they don't like the Mets, I think that most of them can at least respect the team, and have something intellegent to say.

Kelly, 1996-2001 isn't 26 years.

Who's Mike Pagliarulo, Jesse Barfield, Steve Balboni, Bobby Meecham, Steve Faar?

Because you were such a big fan in the 80's right?

Francine- OK...
Mets fan in disguise? You are soooooooo right, in fact, Im such a bandwagon fan, that I only remember Mickey Rivers, Dave Winfield, Donny Baseball, Sweet Lou, Reggie & my favorite of all time, Billy Ball.
Go throw some batteries at Rocker.
& Milo- When the Mets go to the Bronx, there is NO RESPECT. Try going to a game. Im sure there are some women & small children who go there with plenty of respects for the Mets- but they are only there because it is the Mets- Those are your "bandwagon fans". As for the rest of your rant, it's just too pathetic (and long...?need a life?) to address.
Do me a favor, Ill send you two tickets to section 39 in the bleachers for Sunday July 8 (Mets) if you promise to wear a Mets hat-& I'll bet you anything, ANYTHING, you dont go home with that hat.
Let me know

I couldn't agree with you more. It's really hard even getting into a conversation with my fucking GIRLFRIEND, who is a Met fan, without her calling every Yankee fan a "Lemming." We are fans because the Yankees are a good team, not because they've won x-amount of games. I know I'm going to get criticized by both groups of fans, but I WAS a Met fan, at one point. However, at that time, I didn't really know much about either tema, because I moved here from Florida(I was 5 for chrissakes!) Once I had a chance to really pay attention to both teams, I decided that the Yanks had better players, AND they had had some of the greatest players known to the world:
Joltin' Joe, The Great Bambino, Mr. October....I could go on, but you should be able to get what I mean. From the minute I started paying attention to baseball, and the Yanks, I noticed that they really were good. This was before 1989. I've been watching ever since, and cheering them on no matter what....from the screaming at the Ump, to cursing the other team, even yelling at the players if they make an error. When the Mets made it to the series this past year, it turned out to be one of the biggest fights my gf, her sister, her father, brother, myself, and my friend Fil ever had. The family(with the exception of her mom) are all Met fans. Fil and I are fans of the Yanks. Her mom stayed out of any baseball related arguments. My gf thinks that the Mets lost to the Mets, and that the whole WS was a "gimme," for the Yanks. She can't accept the fact that, to quote the old saying, "METS=My Entire Team Sucks!" So, a BIG F-U to all Met fans because you live in a fucking fantasy world! However, b/c my gf is a Met fan, I go with her to games, mainly b/c she's happy, and mainly b/c I get to make fun of my gf b/c of her choice in teams.

Only reason I can never get to any of those games is 'cause all the seats go to the fairweather, bandwagon-jumping celebs and business suits with "connections"... same thing with the playoffs and World series. You don't catch any of them folk breathing anywhere near the Stadium for Yanks-Twins matchups, though.

Let's face facts here: Yes the Yankees have won 3 straight World Series and 4 out of the last 5. No matter where you go these days there has to be some asshole that is wearing something has a yankee logo on it. I'm so sick and tired of bandwagon yankee fans. One of friends decided to become a yankee fan because his dad is a mets fan and can't stand the asshole. Let's also remember that the mets have been shitty for a while too, especially in the 90's. Let's go ahead and trade David Cone for Jeff Kent and Ryan Thompson. What a great trade that was. Then we decide to trade Jeff Kent away for Carlos Baerga. Another great trade there. Lets sign Bobby Bonilla to a huge ass contract in which we are still paying him. A true yankee fan knows the history of the yankees. Bandwagoners, especially yankee ones, could give a shitless. All they know is jeter bernie mo o'neill knoblauch and that's about it. If you ask them to name someone from the past besides ruth donnie baseball mantle reggie joe d and gerhig they can't do it because they know nothing. Let's be serious here. Let's Go METS!!!!!! and all yankee bandwagoners go to hell.

Hmm, what's worse, those bandwagon Bulls fans of the mid 90's, or the current bandwagon Yankee fans?

Ive been to 3 Met-Yankee games in the Bleachers at Yankee Stadium. 2 times the Yankees kicked the Mets ass, but I went to the Friday Night game last year when the Mets won 12-2. I was wearing Mets gear and when Piazza hit the Grand Slam we were all going nuts, and there were plenty of Met fans going crazy and nothing happened. Not everybody takes it so seriously, its all in good fun, when the Mets are getting their ass kicked the Yankee fans give it to us and we laugh it off, vice versa.

And Kelly, you proved my point because you never heard of any of the 80's Yankees and you prove the whole point of this thread. Arrogant Bandwagon Jumping, Yankee Fans who dont even know what division they play in.

Just to let Kelly know...
Pagliarulo--a very underrated third baseman, and home run hitter for the Yanks throughout the 80s Barfield--a hard-hitting right fielder who won the home run title in 86 with Toronto. He played on two All Star teams, and had the best arm I've ever seen.
Balboni--First baseman/DH who wasn't much of a hitter for average, but had a hell of a home run swing. He also hit the first home run that I was at the Stadium to see
Meecham--A decent Shortstop during the early-mid eighties.
Faar--An excellant reliever and the Yankees' closer during the early ninties

Here are a few more names for ya:

-Wayne Tolleson
-Mike Easler
-Lenn Sakata
-Jay Howell
-Rick Rhoden
and one of my all time favorites...
-Alvaro Espinoza

Francine- I was being SARCASTIC...(re: 80's players)
Also- you have a point when it comes to Mets/Yanks games at the stadium- There are so many Mets fans there that the fighting isnt serious & is all in good fun (& a riot).
A better example would have been redsox fans in the Bronx. I went to games this weekend (By the way, they were all sold-out, but if you go @ an hour before game time, they always release bleacher seats & thats how I got in) & there many fights, Redsox hats being thrown, I even saw a 13-15 year old girl get abused due to her Redsox gear.
