New technologies will burn coal cleaner. Or we could use all of the other techs. that don't use fossil fuel. Quite simply, the average tempature of the Earth is risisng faster then it ever has. THAT'S BAD. They are able to prove that this coincides with the thinning of the ozone layer. They are able to prove that gasses released from the burning of fossil fuels cause damage to the ozone layer. So while they can't say it is the only reason for global warming or even the largest it can be said that this is a factor and something needs to be done. George Carlin said it best when he said it is pretty arrogant of us to expect that we can destroy the Earth, the Earth will get rid of us like fleas.
