| O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00  | I learned a very important lesson here at work this morning: Never talk to a stupid person while holding something which can be used as a weapon. I was coming back from the machine shop with a sealing die in my hand (bar of metal, about a foot long, a few inches wide, figure about 5 or 6 pounds). I had just got it inspected because I guessed that would be the next step in troubleshooting the project I am working on...and in doing so, I would prove that my original idea was correct and that this particular guy (who is not even my boss) was wrong. So I go to talk to this guy and I ask him if he looked at the report I emailed him after mining the data all morning. He looked at it, and said "Where is the table of the data points?" I said, "No, I took the table and graphed it, it is much easier to observe the trends graphicly than looking at three pages of numbers." He said, "No, this graph means nothing to me. Why did you do that, what is this? You are just a college student, I've been here 25 years." I all of a sudden noticed that I had clenched the sealing die in my hand quite hard, to the point where my knucles were white. I took a few deep breaths, and went about explaining what I wanted the data to show. After 15 minutes of explaining, and re-explaining, and explaining yet one more time, he says "Oh...I see. That is much simpler." Then, he copies me on a email which he sent to my boss relaying the results of the study, using my ideas, and at the bottom, who does it say did all the work....HIM I hate being treated like I don't know shit ---Edit--- Sorry about bitching guys, it just felt good to type this  Now looking over That Is So Lame and beau69 as of 06/09/01 If they screw up, let me know This message was edited by Doc Smith on 6-11-01 @ 11:37 AM | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Dec. 00 | Hey doc, at this point, your "college student" ass has three alternatives: 1 - Email him and CC: the original recipients of the graphs with a note saying something to the effect of "The graphs look great. I'm glad to see that my work with the graphs helped your presentation. Please let me know if I can help you again" 2 - Quit and find a new job. 3 - Kill him, hide body and pretend he never existed. Seriously though, IM me if you want some help with the "corporate politics". I thrive on that shit. They just feel the need to run their mouths and shut the younger employees down, who are newly educated, and up on the latest technologies, and mentally quicker than they are! You know what deeks, we are the new regime. We are the stronger force which will plow you over whether you like it or not! Conform to todays society, or at least accept it, or retire! Young college grads are what executives are looking for! We are a virus invading corporate America! Get the antibody by working WITH us or suffer the consiquences! I like the idea about replying to him and cc'ing my boss...more subtle than a board with a nail in it, and less pussy than me just sitting on my hands and letting him take credit for an intern's work. I like this job though, I've been co-oping here for over a year and a half, and most of the people are great.
