Fuck You Depression...you keep me up at night, you make me into someone i'm not. you make every living thought i have be of suicide. you make me pray to god and hope i get shot, or stabbed, or maybe my diabetes will act up, and i'll go into a coma and die. fuck you depression, fuck this pain..this never ending pain in my heart..one that will never go away because of you. why do things have to hurt so fucking much, why does love always turn into pain. i was happy for the first time in my life, then all the love i had was gone. i was left empty and alone. Fuck you depression..Fuck you always...cause you are my lifetime companion, and i hate you with every cell of my body. Fuck you depression, cause you will be the death of me.

I mean this with all the sincerity in the world...

even people with 'everything' experience what you're going
through right now. It's completely normal. Myself included.

Take one good thing in your life, embrace the crap out of it,
and get yourself past the bad stuff.

It works.

Unicron...

Listen to me closely please...To defeat depression you must first begin to love yourself and do things that make you happy ( you know what I'm talking about )
You can't let depression grab hold of you with a death grip. It isn't always something that can be controlled. It can be an imbalance of hormones or situational. Never Ever think that suicide is the answer to your problems. That is a temporary solution. Please see a counselor and maybe try a medicine that may take the edge off so you can strengthen your esteem. Depression isn't a death sentence...Love you first and go on with your life- DO NOT rely on others to make you feel happy or fulfilled!

FOR THOSE WHO EVEN THINK OF SAYING SOMETHING RUDE-- YOU BETTER BACK OFF AND SHUT YOUR FACE!

I can't love myself..i'm a fat nasty uglt mother fucker...i've been told by everyone, even my family that i'm just a fat guy, who can't get chicks, who has no friends, no job, who'll just end up a bum. then i finallly get a girl..and then she cheats on me..and it just hurts. and i just look in the mirror and just..it's just utterly depressing.

Kim..i love ya for trying to help..but everything you've told me, everything everyone has told me over the years, just dosn't work.

And eventually, suicide is the only way out.

Get up and start taking walks and being nice to yourself! You CAN'T let others dictate how you live...period!

Time for professional help, dude.
There are two types of depression. One is all in your head and is just because stuff sucks and you take it too hard.
The other is a chemical imbalance.
Both can be treated if you seek help.

I'd suggest a good head shrink and a personal trainer. Mind and body.

Start leading your life, don't let it lead you. If you are unhappy about something, try to fix it...it will even give you something to live for

If you're unhappy with your weight, start going to a gym...if you can't afford it, start running or jogging or rollerblading (and a little Stacker2) just something to get you out of the house. You'd be surprised, exercize actually helps lift your spirits too.

How old are you sweetie? You're still in late teens or early 20's right? You have so much time to change shit around...screw what your so-called friends and family say, don't let what they say become a self-fulfilling prophecy...

and don't forget, women are evil, as Buttmunch so happily posts all the time...try getting out a little, and when you least expect it, you'll find someone

Bottom line bro, fuck 'em. If they talk about you like that you don't need them. Speaking from experience, if you let them get to you, they win.

Live your life for you, fuck everybody else.

I think we all get depressed at times, but keeping your chin up and motoring through hard times is part of life. Life's to short to let shit like this get to you. Find something you like to do, and try to get your mind off of it. Things will get better in time.

As for being "fat", as you called yourself. Get happy first, the weight problem will leave with the depressed feeling.

Friends, they're over-rated, most of 'em will only fuck you over sometime, some way regardless of what you do. People suck, it took me a long time to realize it, but it's true.

As to shrinks, I don't buy into that whole profession. Sometimes people just need to get out of their heads, and keep busy. Being idle, not having a job, is bound to make you think way too much about your life and where you are. Whenever we over-analyze something it's sure to look worse than it really is.

Trust me bro, it ain't all bad.

I took a psych course once. I don't beleive psychiatry is a real science and is only partially medical (such as correcting chemical imbalances).

90% of the benefit of a shrink is that you find one person who you can tell ANYTHING to and get an honest, intelligent, and actually helpful response from. It is a very, VERY lucky person who finds all of those qualities in a friend, relative, or spouse. Most of the time, your too afraid of losing that relationship to confess the really nasty stuff that bugs you. Or you know that you won't get any kind of intelligent or useful response. So, a shrink can fill that void.

If you choose to look for a shrink, go to two or three at first. They do a "getting to know you" type session where you find out if the you and the shrink have compatible personalities. It's important to find a person you feel you can trust.

Thank you everyone..all your responses and advice are helpful and good.

But (there is always a but), it not like i havn't tried all this stuff before. Exersise, going to a gym, taking my mind off things, trying anything to forget some of my problems. nothing works. most of the problems start when i try to sleep. i could bee 100% happy and cool and good all day, but when i try to sleep, it's like demons creeping up on me, all the feelings i had supressed all day come in a flood at night. I'm 19 and i havn't known a day, a whole day, of true happiness. As for shrinks, i don't trus them, and i don't trust the drugs either. chemical imbalance or not, i'm not touching any anti-depressants.

Unicron (look I spelled your name right, things are looking up. :) ), you think too much. I don't think very many people in this world are happy all day on any given day. The ones that are happy for an entire day are lucky. You're 19 years old, you have a long time to be depressed, don't waste it all now. You need to get up, get out and get something.

I used to have trouble sleeping myself. Now, I have to have noise (radio or TV) in order to sleep. Getting exercise during the day will help you to sleep. I used to work a very physical job, where I walked about 10 miles everyday. Since then, I have gone on to office work where I sit on my fat ass (getting fatter) all day long. One of these days, I'll start getting exercise again, but I understand what you are saying. It's hard to get motivated, especially when you don't see any results. Well, having gone from 340 lbs down to 260lbs and back up to 300, I know how it goes. You have to come up with a plan and stick to it. Get exercise, eat right, and within 2 months or so, you'll see the benefits. The important thing is that you have to do it for yourself.

Have you tried reading any books on meditating...no, I'm not a flake but I was an insomniac, there's certain mental exercises you can do to clear your mind and be at rest

No matter how hard it seems.. remember that at least you're not me (that's a joke son.. suppossed to make you smile)

Seriously.. as far as the excercise thing.. you have to do something you enjoy. Trust me.. I'm no prize myself.. i keep trying and falling off the boat. I know the feelings.. don't want to go to a gym because: You think you look like a tool with all the muscle jocks around, you don't have time, don't have money, etc.. etc..
I finally figured this out. Especially for a person who doesn't LIKE excercise (such as myself) the trick is to find something you DO like that would be excercise, that way you won't drift away from it.
I, for example.. was practicly BORN in the water and on 2 wheels, and while I'm embarassed to swim in public (unlike Reddog I don't want to show off my man tits), I can ride a bike for days on end.. so I went and recently got myself a bike and have been riding it as much as possible.. sure i miss doing it every so often (didn't get on it last week at all) but because i ENJOY riding a bike, it's not a chore and I know I'll keep doing it.
Just think of some physical activity you enjoy and go a little overboard with it, at the very least doing so would trim you down a little.. and that would be a big help to your self esteem.. trust me I know.. I have none myself.

Spit...sofar i've read "History of Rome" "Dictionary of the Roman Empire" "NHL Guide and Record Book" "Guiness World Records 2001" and a few other small books, (not meditation, i'm sure that would put me right out :)) and they are fine, and they get me sleepy, but when i try to sleep..all these lil problems i have creep up on me and slowly make me go nuts while i'm trying to sleep

Unicorn, I guess I need to post this again

Here goes...

Animals don't have a choice.
If they're not happy with their place in the world... too bad.
They have to live the life they've been given.
Humans, on the other hand, don't have to.
We have a choice.
If you don't like your place in the world
you can get off anytime you want.
Suicide. That's right.
You don't like the way your life's going,
you don't like the way you are in the world,
anything around you,
you can check out anytime you like.
Animals aren't allowed that thought
and believe me, if they were, they would use it.
There'd be a lot of dogs and cats, owned by assholes
that live in high-rises, diving out the windows.
Zebras... if they even had remotely that thought
would take a look at themselves and go, "What the FUCK!
Black & white in a green & brown world... this blows.
I'm just gonna jump in the river.... I don't have a thumb to work a gun or hold a knife or even open a jar of pills. I'm just gonna dive into the next lion's mouth. Why even bother?"
Now, monkeys have the opposable thumb so they could kinda do it the exact same way we do.
Now, there's a bunch of people that say, "Oh, it's against the law". Well, it's only against the law if you do a crappy job and get caught. Other people say, "Oh, we should save them". Yeah, well you know what? Not everybody wants to be saved. Not everybody should be saved. And who are we to force our will upon them? I mean, isn't that one of the joys about being a human? Freedom of choice?

Now, it's not all bad. Now, I'm not saying "Kill yourself". But if you're gonna be an idiot and do it anyway, it's no sweat off of my back. There's a lot of good that could come from it. A little bit of bad thrown in. Some of the things: A job will open... An apartment will become available... There'll be more air for me... They say there's two girls for every guy - if you're a man, there'll be four chicks for me... There'll be more Ketel One vodka for me... There'll be one less idiot in line at the bank who gets up to the window without their FUCKing slips filled out... I won't ever have to go to the store to buy my favorite Salt & Vinegar Chips and have the clerk point at you and say, "They bought the last bag".... You won't help change the McDonald's sign to a Hundred Billion Served... You'll never get AIDS... You won't have to worry about calories ever... No more, "Hey, does this make me look fat?"... There'll be one less polluting human...You won't have to recycle... There'll be one less car on the road... There'll be more Ring Dings for me... Fifty or so chickens' lives will be spared... Your fingers won't ever get red from eating pistachios... You won't be forced to visit your Grandparents on Sundays anymore... No more church... You'll be saying, "Hey, World - Kiss My Ass!"... No more wet dreams about Supermodels... No more Barry Manilow... For a few years anyway... Wondering "Am I a loser?" will be a thing of the past... Say good-bye to crappy Xmas presents from Aunts and Uncles... You won't have to suffer through a Motley Crue reunion... FUCK flossing and brushing... You'll never lose sleep over a pregnancy scare... Adios, Acne... Worrying whether you fit in or not won't be on your brain... See ya later, homework... You'll never have to sit through another movie brought to you by the creators of South Park... Schools out forever.... No more paying bills... You won't have to do chores... You won't be able to run over toads with the lawnmower though... You'll also miss McDonald's French Fries... Bugs Bunny... The amazing electrifying feeling that surges through your body when you kiss someone for the first time...
You won't be able to watch the letterbox director's cut of Jaws... Candy... Living above ground... Pudding crust... You'll miss the rush of getting your first apartment... Getting to the point in your life where you can tell your parents to "FUCK Off! I gotta make my own mistakes....you did"... You'll miss sex - you'll miss thinking about it, looking for it, sex by yourself, sex with a partner, sex with multiple partners... No more summer nights that seem to go on forever... Roller coasters.... Naming your kid the name you always wanted... Making a difference in the world... You'll miss the experience and pleasure of Hallucinogenics... Watching your neighbor's wife change clothes with her blinds open... A lifetime of masturbating... Watching your favorite team sweep the series... Music... You will definitely miss music... Trying to sneak into your house drunk - three hours past your curfew... You'll miss the blaze and glory of the 4th of July fireworks... The taste of Captain Crunch... If you're a boy, you'll miss the feeling the first time you reach up a girl's shirt... If you're a girl, the feeling the first time you reach down a boy's pants... You'll miss your favorite coat... Waffles with whipped cream and strawberries... Beating your friends at video games... You won't be around to see what shape and color the new marshmallow in Lucky Charms will be... You'll miss the feeling you get when reminiscing about your first love - thirty years after the fact... The joy of giving and receiving at Christmas... Skinny dipping... Getting stoned, reading Green Eggs & Ham, and eating like a horse that got loose in the grain bin... Flying cars... Hey, you were born - Finish what was started.

Funny how ev'rything was roses

I just had to add to the first sentance of Kim's first post. I'm in my early twenties and I've battled with depression off and on, as long as I can remember. I thought about all kind of crazy shit, including offing myself... but I came up with a couple of reasons not to do it:
First, I love my family and I could never hurt them like that.
Second, the world is facinating: look at 1951 then 2001, 2051 will blow my fucking mind...
Third, and last, the best way to put it is "Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll" which is really all physical pleasures divided into three subsections... so here we go:
3a)there really is someone for everyone. If you're unhappy about about your appearance, do something about it! I've always wanted to do something about my gut but when my girl left me, what stuck in my head is that she once said: "I don't find you physically attractive anymore... you look pregnant" mind you, she left me for other reasons and I might never get her back but I realized that running on a treadmill, looking fit and meaningless sex will make me happy, even If I never find true love again
3b) I know people will disagree with me, but If I'm ever paralyzed, hook me up to the morpine drip and I'll smile 'til the end of my days, I've sworn off drugs so I can get a better job that might drug-test me but my nightly gin&tonic lets me sleep like a baby...
3c) My favorite music never fails to put a smile on my face... same goes for O&A... books, movies... shit, there's alot of crap floating around the toilet bowl of popular culture but some of it is worthwhile, ie: The Simpsons, South Park and The Daily Show... the music of Tool any movie involving Chistopher Walken and books... no better way to escape reality that I know of
I don't konw if this came out coherent or as mindless drivel but try out NewYorkSportsClubsVisit this Website and just start outt with runing
I'm not sure this came out as pure drivel ot grenius but what I'm really saying is "stick around, we want to see tou.,,
I just wabted to say

i'vee been there and I just wanted to let you e that life gets bettrrrrrrr

You gotta work for me upstairs. I can get you in. You'd love it: Nobody tells you when to go to bed. You can eat all the ice cream you want. You get to kill, All Day & All Night.

i'm just gonna have to work on it. as stated in some older threads, i've tried offing myself, and failed, so i've decided to pretty much just deal with what i got and not try it again, but yesterday got me damn close. all the advice in this thread was very helpful, and i appreciate it all, but the one constant i've seen is the exercising thing. it seems that for alot of you who are or have been depressed, working out and walking and just doing things have helped, so i think i will give exercise another shot.
