For all the complications that have landed my father in the hospital yet again. A few more days for a battery of tests that will make the doctors say "gee, we can't find anything wrong...all the results are negative."

A side FU to my father for never once considering taking care of himself and his diabetes....thanks for giving me something to look forward to.

On the bright side, he won't have to listen to my mother bitch at him while he's in the hospital.

Sorry to hear that, I know what you mean, my grandfather has had it for over 25 years already. You can get really old with diabetes although it really sucks. He is now in and out the hospital cause the docs can't seem to find out how much insuline he needs which makes him sick and dizzy alot. Plus the fact that he is getting older (75 now) Ok, this was suppose to be a happier msg, sorry. Good luck with all, and hope your dad will take better care of himself cause things can go very wrong if someone with diabetes doesn't.
Again G-luck!!!

Have you ever had that typical Dutch feeling...."Have I That???"

Thanks....my dad has had it for over 20 years now (he's 68) and you're exactly right......its a horrible disease and he keeps having to go in and out of the hospital as new complications arise.

Unicron....I hope you're smarter than my dad and you're taking care of yourself.....it is pretty nasty!

MF, I know what you're going through dude. My mom has had diabetes for over 25 years now. There was a period about 4 years ago where she was in really bad shape. Thankfully, she's doing much better now. Hang in there bro.

Metalfan, hope your dad pulls through OK. My dad was a borderline Diabetic, and he didn't really start to take care of himself until it was too late - he died from a heart attack which had he not been Diabetic, would've only been a minor one (so the doctor said). His arteries were basically deteriorated thanks to the Diabetes, even though he was on Insulin pills. I try to take care of myself, easy on the sugar, etc. because its a genetic disease, and unlike my pop, I'd like to stick around to see my 45th birthday. Fuck You Diabetes.

Metal Fan i know how you feel. My family is riddled by diabetes. My grandmother has had it pretty much her whole life, my mom is probably going to get it, and I am probably going to get it too. It sucks when i see my grandmother take blood tests by poking herself in the finger everyday.

So, I hope that your father gets better real soon.

Yea i be taking that zoloff, but thaz jus keepin me from killin y'all.

Thanks for all the kind words.....it is scary just how many people have this shitty disease and we, their kids....have to keep on our toes so we don't have to live, and die, like our parents.....what a fucking nightmare!

I understand where your coming from. My father had it to for a few years untill he passed last year. Strange thing but he never had it untill he started taking alot of other medications for other problems mostly heart problems. When he passed it had nothing to do with his heart.

Metalfan my heart goes out to you and your father, mucho gutso. I read somewhere that stress can make the condition worse, so I hope your mom stops giving him a hard time and takes good care of him.

Both my grandmas have diabetes, my mom had the pregnancy diabetes, I'm not sure how that works but it means that she'll be diabetic for real soon. My doctor just told me I'll probably get them too and that I'm already showing signs of it, it runs in my family.

I don't get it, I try to have a healthy diet + work out a lot and all that, and that's what I get? I used to think diabetes was caused by eating too much sugar or being overweight, but in my case it's just crappy genes. OK, I'll stop bitching now.
