| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70  | There is a problem lately with looking up AOL members on the member search in the admin forum. I did a search on a member and got like 7 matches and one of them was straw the other faceman. I was talking to fuggin about it. Most of the time it is with AOL members. But maybe it's a problem with cable users, i dunno? But just warning you ahead of time if you do a search becareful, check the extension to the e-mail if it matches to be sure it is the same person or check the number of characters in the passwords to be sure if you are banning someone you think is an old banned member. i did searches on others and got members who haven't posted in ages,. like our newest member "Tar Baby". Or i searched under a name mavric signed up with a couple weeks ago and got froy and the brain. So just an FYI. I was talking to GS the other night about this... i ran somebody's IP (i forget who, maybe GS will remember) and it came back with like 22 matches...on that list was TeenSlut, VirginGrrl & a few other regulars...all but 3 of the e-mail adresses had "@aol.com" ...so just be sure to cross check names & e-mail when you run an IP seach... i would hate to ban someone (or see someone banned) just because they had the same IP because of AOL... although, it seems that it is not specific to AOL... look, i just did an IP search on NJStrawberry and got the following: D-Cups rlblmac@yahoo.com 1-8-01 Member Yes 10 Drudge Jr conflictxnj@msn.com 5-19-01 Member No 0 MothEye motheye@aol.com 10-4-00 Member No 48 njstrawberry njstrawberry@hotmail.com 2-4-01 Member Yes 1402 Spunk Bubbles conflictxnj@aol.com 1-7-01 Member Yes 45 Tyrsis tyrsismandor@earthlink.net 8-16-01 Member Yes 2 Yoko yoko_ono68@hotmail.com 7-25-01 Member Yes 2 I'm not sure if it is an AOL thing, since i know for a fact that NJStraw has a cable modem (we're on the same system) she only uses AIM... | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | cable modems are weird...people can share ip's through proxy modems...i dont know exactely how optimium or roadrunner set up thier networks...bottom line IP is NOT the way to go for identifying people...
