| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01  | At one time or another a lot of you have said to me that you just don't have much fun here anymore. I'm curious as to why that is, and it's something I'd like to fix. Beyond the normal headaches of just dealing with idiots at times, what is it that is preventing you from enjoying yourself and your abilities to screw around on the site? What can we all do to change this feeling? With the changes that are being made, sure life is easier for you guys, but is it necesarily better?  I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands Over The Limit | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | Well I know I am trying to make my own fun truthfully around here. I haven't been too intruiged to post lately with the mental midgets posting lately. Sorry but when a post like "spoo" and "i win" get hundreds of replies just makes me sick. What happened to having more than one word when starting a post? I'm doin my best to enjoy myself but to go through the entire explanation again isn't something I wanna do. Mainly the abundance of quality posters we had are not here. No matter what people like afrika, seph, maynard, among many others who have disappeared even JustJon made things interesting with their replies. But people like alkey have bought things down, I'm not telling them how to post but people compalin that alkey is doing what people like tequila used to get torn for, one word posts. Plus we had chat threads the ones opak started and I don't mind threads becoming chat threads but not when it is the same 3 or 4 people at night; alkey, rape, ants, and crx. They bring foundry chat to OT, it's ok when an abundance of people turn a bunch of threads into seperate chats like the c-blockers had and the ufc, hljc, slackers etc etc you had a bunch of seperate groups making chats at times but when it's the same people with trully mindless fuckin drivel it makes it a pain for me to wanna come up with a good idea to post or even a story when you can get 400 replies with "spoo". It's not anyones fault at this point it is just the snowball getting bigger from when it started many many months back but that is what is pissing me off now. There's something about alkey lately also, I know he's been fingerbang lite with all the chicks he is banging and private little parties they have at CRX's house, which is why they have become such a clique. But there is something about Alkey lately he is acting like fuckin mister board savior. I really couldn't name a decent addition to the board in the last 3 months besides kensPen. How many markets are these boys in now...yet not many trickle down to this site. Word is not getting out, and this board screams for new blood. | Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | Well like I said we trully should try and make something happen, I know personally I am a tad tired and just truthfully not myself this past week. Not on the board just in my personal life so i do not have the want inside me to do anything right now as far as starting topics but I think we give it a week or two and we start taking back what is ours. We always say "don't complain about it, do something." Well lets do something. I know it sucks cause it probably will go unnapreciated and we'll get few replies but hey when alkey came on he was getting no feedback but he kept on doing it and it caught on. The people will follow but they need something to follow. I mean i write those friggin OTL columns and I haven't gotten one positive response and I just don't feel like doing it no more cause why do it if no one cares? Well hey maybe someone out there will care. You don't always get 500 replies, hell I never had a thread with more than 200 replies and I think I garnered a tad more respect and have kept it over a longer period of time than alkey. As have many of us back here. PS the new list of the latest 100 joined members is a really nice addition. How some of us make several arguments and points yet you only reply to the one or two that you can easily get an answer for. No offense to you but it's something that itches me, just come out and say it. You want us to post more and you want us to be more involved as mods and mainly posters but give us an opinion give us something anything. You are the man around here you do realize that, you're supposed to be "the king". Yes we've had 500 joinings and I bet you 100 bucks they barely combine for 100 posts together. We've also had almost 16,500 members join over the last couple years yet how many were duplicate accounts or one time posters or even 0 time posters. The numbers are not what counts, maybe financially and as a bragging point they do but not in the long run of fun here. We're telling you how we feel, but why not start off by leading by example and tell us how you feel. | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I'm not asking anyone to post more or be more active. I just want to see how you guys are feeling about your own time on the board. Every once in a while, someone gets bored and takes some time off, but it seems lately that general interest among the group has been dying, and I'm just trying to figure out why and what people are thinking. We've spent a lot of time discussing the pros & cons of the board for the regular memebers, but it didn't seem like I ever gave you guys the chance to bring out your own feelings on what you expect or what you are looking for or looking to avoid. Now just seemed like the time to do it. I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands Over The Limit | ||||

The thing that kept that from happening in the past was constant change, which we have lost. Think about this: who is the newest regular poster on the board? Alkey? Noelle? They joined late August/early September. I think we need to raid the WNEW studio during the show, screaming "OPIEANTHONY.COM!!!!!!" Maybe that would help. Another thing popped into my head - perhaps one reason for lack of plugs is that "opieanthony.com" is way too close to "opieandanthony.com", and they don't want people to get confused. They could plug us via the link on opieandanthony.com, but look at it - it might be a pain to explain. Whatever the reason, we need fuckin show plugs if we want to get rolling again, simple as that. Matt, I know you've been trying, but it's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | I don't know for sure, but the 'spoo' thing to me seemed like an experiment to see if a stupid thing like that would get replies from the idiot members of oa.com. It may be a show reference or something, but I hardly listen so I don't know. I never asked anyone what it meant 'cause quite frankly, I haven't had the energy to care about what it meant. Inside joke or whatever it is, I couldn't care less. However, without all of these "stupid threads" the board would have less than zero activity. I always said that these chat threads were ruining the board. As far as me starting threads, I hardly ever did in the past, and I hardly will in the future. I don't think about my replies, I open a thread and if I don't have a reply to go right away, I close the thread. It is as simple as that. Like magus said, "Lately there just hasn't been very much material to feed off of." I have never participated in the chat or idiotic threads such as "spoo," and I don't plan on supporting them in the future. As far as my feelings around here, I don't think I have kept them hidden. I will put them here all in 1 place - I feel like oa.com is the old toy that no-one wants to play with come xmas morning. This attitude, I feel, stems from the top (read: Froy). When oa.com came along SP mostly took a back seat. After the merger of the boards, it was evident that SP was kept for nostalgic reasons. Slowly but surely, forum by forum, the SP forums are fading away from lack of activity. I feel the same trend is going to be the case for oa.com, now that OTL is online. Here is how I see it... oa.com WAS about a radio show (opieanthony.com). But it, through the nicey-nice / Let's all get together for board gatherings, has become all about OT -- Plan a party -- FU/FC let's fight about what happened at the party we planned and attended. Since the GD forum has been pretty much a wasteland, for months on end, the board has become all about OT. Now OTL has a message board that is basically the only active forums that oa.com has (OT / Music entertainment type stuff). When, or rather "IF," OTL takes off with the members that you, Froy, are using every opp'ty to sign up from oa.com with your spamming masked as a joke, there will be no need for oa.com since it is not a money generating site as OTL intends to be. I have been to OTL based on links that I was sent and I ventured over to OTL message boards. I know that those message boards are even deader than oa.com right now. But, I also know that that is not the future intention of those boards. So, these past contributing members are spending their time elsewhere. Now we can sit and argue over why these members don't post over here, but I think it boils down to 'hypocrisy.' The 'hypocrisy' of the way Kid was banned especially after the public lynching of Opak for banning kid without good reason in the Kid A Banning and Board Policy thread. I don't know this for sure because like I said when it happened, I wasn't going to acknowledge any conversation pertaining to that subject matter outside moderators and BTS, and I haven't. It is just a feeling. As far as me having any fun here? What can be done to make things better? I kinda think, at this point, it is kinda like putting the condom on after fucking the 10 pound crack whore. Unless we can somehow retain the 500 plus membership signups like we had in the past week or 2, it is just going to get worse. About all these new members, I am a bit curious where they are all coming from. I mean, if we haven't had any plugs on the show, and the past members left (so obviously it isn't positive word-of-mouth) then where the hell are they coming from? Sure, I have been known to be a bit paranoid in the past, but c'mom something is fishy. At this rate we will be at 25,000 non-active members by summer. And I think that the older members enjoy having their counts visible as a status symbol of sorts. I really wasn't trying to turn this into a 'what can we do to make this site better thread,' in all honesty I just wanted to see how you guys felt personally about your own posting and outlooks.
