I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

As you know from our IM convo Matt, I'm totally with whatever you decide and will gladly come along for the ride.
After the hypocrisy that was shown from a certain admin and the loss of someone I consider a brother, I've lost any and all desire to be part of a board that represents that show.
He doesn't care about us, so why the fuck should we care about him at this point. Good riddance I say and let's start over where we don't have to deal with this bullshit.

Just a suggestion....

I think that we should voice our support for this decision in whatever thread(s) Froy creates.

It seems that everyone is for it. People will probably receive it better if we're all visibly with the plan.

brisktwilightinpurgatory.com is probably open.

What about retardedyoyo.com??
And to be honest... as long as whatever the new incarnation of this site remains seperate from other projects (ie: doesn't go the way of the hell hole boards and "merge") I'm here for the haul.

I have to admit, I'm quite thoroughly disappointed that someone who once treated us as a valuable asset can turn around and level such despite and derision on us.. it gives me the impression that we were, quite frankly, merely being used... and I don't like that.

I knew I shouldn't have posted in anger. I just reread what I wrote and it totally came out wrong.
I absolutely did not mean that I don't care about this board anymore. It's quite the opposite. I love it here and am grateful for the modship and a chance to prove myself.
All I'm saying is after the comedian tournament is done in 4 weeks, I probably won't participate much in GD. I just can't bring myself to do so after we were all completely disrespected like that.
I will still continue to do my job and patrol GD for the typical assholes, but I doubt I'll be starting any new threads there after the tourney is done.

On a side note, I think the new name of the site should represent what this really is.
My choices may not be as flashy or wild as some that were mentioned, but I think these fit perfectly.

www.secondchance.net
www.2ndchance.net
www.anewbeginning.net

I just checked and they are all available. I will post more when I think of them

I think Thehellhole.com is quite perfect actually. What else could describe us anyway, unless you want crazyassmotherfuckerswithtoomuchtimeontheirhands.com

You said that stauses will be deleted with the move which I agree with.

I want to also say this on a personal level. In order for us to suceed because we are getting a second shot and starting fresh, lets do it right this time. To do so, I personally am dropping most of my grudges with people on the board period. That even includes Strawberry, I am in now way talking to her and hate the bitch with a fuckin passion. I told this to matt yesterday and I believe that when a problem stems from personal hatred like mine did with straw stuff like that hurts the site, right or wrong. On the other hand when you have a mass hatred like say balloonNot, then it's ok cause people will like, love it, and even join in. Without the bashing the board can not be fun, for those on CDIH think of inkgrrl, newbie bashing is ok to a point. Or people here remember what I did to DIG along with others and hes turned out ok.

I dunno maybe you all knew this and I just realized it, but I wanted it out there. I am not mad at Anthony, I'm sad my stories and other thoughts are forever gone but we'll make new ones.

Also you mentioned second chances will this be open to everyone including people like say herbanko & Mavric?

As far as the removal of statuses, I am neither for nor against it, even though I would think that a good bit of statuses have show references, which would be out of place. Starting fresh on statuses may be a good idea considering that.

I am not for letting back the banned.

3 reasons -

1. The ones that would come back are just chomping at the bit, for whatever that means, to post/bash their excitement of the fall of OA.com

2. They will have the attitude of 'well, now you need us 'cause O&A dumped your sorry asses' which will make us look weak.

3. We will be perceived as desperate.

I know it is 'excitement' but it will only be temporary excitement.

I will not comment any further on this, I just wanted to put it out there for something to consider.

Second Chance: PB?!?

Let me explain by what I mean by second chance. I am not gonna talk to, IM, PM, E-mail, Phone call, nor even acknowlege Straw's existence. I will just ignore her, no status changes, nothing. I am quite sure she will stay out of my way as well. That is what I mean by second chance, what she did is unforgivable to me. Just as what PB did to you is even worse actually.

But I am saying that if we go to a new board with old bullshit then nothing will change. Like I told froy last week, changing the scenary won't fool anyone. People here may be silly and retards but most of them ain't dumb.

I am willing to change, I think all of us should do the same and try and make this work.

As far as banned members, if froy agrees I think we should have some sort of agreement or a consensus where we nominate several banned members. All of us that is and then we pick the top 10 or something like that. I don't think letting mavric back on is a good idea not cause of him but of what his name carries even though he'll join anyway. JMB won't last he really won't. But that's up to you all, just my suggestion.

I really do wanna do it right this time, i think we all do. Those who don't really should speak up now, I think we got everyone's opinion except for a few but we should be 100% on this all of us not jus 75% of us. If you're not gonna mod or post or anything just say so now.

I like the selective un-banning idea. People like Mav and Clumsy Chaos, though they're gonna make names anyway, should not just be ALLOWED back on, that's just asking for problems. And grudge or no grudge, the guys are completely useless posters anyway.

Other people, a second chance would be find. KidA would be good, hopefully he won't disagree so much with the way the new site is run. Tenbats has apparently gotten over his sig pic masturbation on RF.net (except for his own sigs of course).

And hey, if people get crazy, they can always be banned again. >)

The second chance thing was partially brought up by me so obviously I think its a good idea, for the most part. People that were banned for personal and stupid shit should be brought back, that would include PB, Kid(if he wants it) jmb, maybe even tenbats(shudders). People banned for spamming, registering for the purpose of causing trouble and the like, should stay banned.

As far as selective reprieves I'm agreeable to that, PB, JMB, etc..

However, I absolutely will NOT agree with allowing Kid back on, primarily because no matter WHAT reason he was banned FOR, he still should have been banned as a disruptive influence LOONG before that.. I think the simple reason he lasted as long as he did is that we were all AFRAID of the repercussions of banning him.. that and because since each of us avoided banning him we would get pissed if someone actually did. That is, at least my stance/opinion on Kid.. it's nothing personal, I like th guy, I tried explaining to him over and over what he was doing that upset people.. he simply could not see it.. I think no matter where he goes online, he will be disruptive, anarchistic, and a pain in the neck of the highest order.

This one is kinda hard. In a way I am for letting banned members back. I mean put yourself in those shoes. Wouldn't you want a second chance if it was made available? On the other hand there are also those that fucked up so bad we don't need their bullshit again.
If I may, I'd like to quote something that Slash said.
quote:

1. The ones that would come back are just chomping at the bit, for whatever that means, to post/bash their excitement of the fall of OA.com

I thought the same exact thing, but if we do bring them back and they do pull this shit, we can always get rid of them again. If they go in knowing this won't be tolerated and they still choose to play those games, BANG! they're gone. No questions asked.

Now to address something I never thought I'd say. Come on Flock, you can get this one out!
Even Kid Afr, Afri, Afrika should be given another chance. Damn, that was hard. ;)
This time though no pussyfooting and kissing his ass because you feel he such a "valuable member". That truly made me sick last time, but that's in the past now. He fucked up and broke the rules that are clearly stated in the FAQ 10x more than any other member here, but was still given chance upon chance upon chance. This time, if he chooses to come back, he has to be treated like every other member who breaks the rules. No more special treatment.
I guess what I'm saying is, weighing the two sides, I have to go with letting members back if they wish. This time though we stick to the rules of the FAQ. No if's, and's or but's about it.
