I personally found it hilarious.

At least Mav and Stingray can't cream their shorts over it.

I gave Steve the heads up this morning that Anthony would ask him to delete the links.

So it is done.

I sent Anthony an email a few minutes ago, as soon as he gets back to me, we can begin moving forward.

So, what is foward?

Is the new site, being hosted on thehellhole.com being called The Hellhole?

If so, has any consideration been given to the color scheme etc.. as well as a new Logo / Banner?

How 'bout the forums that will be deleted and the new forums added? What are the changes going to entail?

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

One thing to understand.... a dot com is essentially a pointer. All that needs to be done is point thehellhole.com to the same place opieanthony.com points at.... that's why this move won't take a hell of a lot of work. We're staying on the same board, just changing the colors and banners.

As far as the colors.... I'm thinking black background. Past that, I don't know. :)

That is one of the few things that I do understand, lol

I was asking if the 'pointer' to direct people to the new board, that is located on the same shared server that the current board is physically located, courtesy of Steve C., was going to in fact be http://www.thehellhole.com.

I guess the answer is 'YES'.

I did not know who was deciding and/or approving, or even if they were decided and approved already, the color scheme, banner / logo, as well as the forums that will replace the forums they are being removed.

I was also wondering what the new forum's subject matters would be, and the actual titles of said forums.

About the other stuff, I was looking for a serious answer.

Maybe Froy can enlighten me/us.

As far as colors, I was thinking black text, red links, white & grey alternating boxes.

As far as colors for the logo, buttons, dividers, etc. I have Gooch looking into some color ideas at other websites.

What we will do is delete GD, WDIL, SU, Enemies, SPGD, Fan Sub.

FU & WOW will be renamed. I was thinking Flesh Pot for WOW, I haven't given any thought to FU yet. Obviously I'll re-write the descriptions accordingly.

All the OT boards & BTS will remain. I haven't given any thought to renaming them, except FC, that can be put to a better use. I was thinking of making it the Dumping Grounds since that's what it is anyway.

I am all for allowing banned members back on a case-per-case basis.

One question:Is any consideration being given to the people who made SU what it is? or are they just going to be left to fend for themselves? I was just curious

Sometimes we can choose the path we follow.
Sometimes our choices are made for us.
And sometimes we have no choice at all.

I remember the cover art to one of Sprinsteen's albums was suspiciously close to that color scheme... coincidence?

Thanks for the reply.

For the record, I am TOTALLY against Cranky Ass coming back under any name. No deals ala Mavric either. NADA. As far as I am concerned, he burned every bridge possible.

He has had too many chances and was quick to blow them all.

Actually yes, Moron brought that up. I spoke to the SU guys in a private chat last night and told them to find a back-up plan, and offered to make them a small SU site on our server.

Damn, guess I should have read this whole thing instead of the last few posts. Didn't realize you wanted feedback here so I wound up posting what I felt in Froy's thread. Sorry bout that.

I'll just paste here what I said there. Oh, and yes I am in this for the long haul myself. I just got here. No way I'm giving up this soon or this easily.

This one is kinda hard. In a way I am for letting banned members back. I mean put yourself in those shoes. Wouldn't you want a second chance if it was made available? On the other hand there are also those that fucked up so bad we don't need their bullshit again.
If I may, I'd like to quote something that Slash said.

quote:

1. The ones that would come back are just chomping at the bit, for whatever that means, to post/bash their excitement of the fall of OA.com

I thought the same exact thing, but if we do bring them back and they do pull this shit, we can always get rid of them again. If they go in knowing this won't be tolerated and they still choose to play those games, BANG! they're gone. No questions asked.

As much as I don't like the guy, even Kid Afrika should be given another chance. This time though no pussyfooting and kissing his ass because you feel he such a "valuable member". That truly made me sick last time, but that's in the past now. Bottom line is he fucked up and broke the rules that are clearly stated in the FAQ 10x more than any other member here, but was still given chance upon chance upon chance. This time, if he chooses to come back, he has to be treated like every other member who breaks the rules. No more special treatment.

I guess what I'm saying is, weighing the two sides, I have to go with letting members back if they wish. This time though we stick to the rules of the FAQ. No if's, and's or but's about it.

As far as who to let back, I really can't comment on that. I haven't been here as long as most of you so I don't even remember some of the old names you guys are mentioning. I'm totally cool with whoever you decide, but only as long as we treat them all equal like I said earlier. No preferential treatment just because they kiss your ass in IM's and pretend to be your friend. Break the rules, you pay. End of story.

What about simply re-vamping the SU forum.. instead of just OA internet broadcasts.. make it a generic internet radio/file-sharing forum?

And Flock.. while you certainly have a point about letting even the dangerous (for lack of a better term) members have a shot, and I hate to say this.. but you really don't understand how many headaches Kid caused back here... I'm not sure if you've sifted around yet.. but if you were to dig through all the BTS threads, I'm fairly certain you'ld find at least 10 to 20 threads dedicated to Kid's antics.. more individual threads for him than any other single member (possibly even Mavric)

Magus, get on that thing that I don't have.

I would like to take the time right now to thank Teh Froy for encouraging me to start threads.

This thread will be on page 3 by morning and that is going to greatly help me with my self-esteem.

So, Teh Froy, from the bottom of my ballsac, Thank you!
