If anyone didn't see yet, go check out this thread entitled "Here's the deal" where Anthony posts:

quote:

Post what you want. Just don't screw with our personal lives. That's as simple as it gets. A lot of people on this board have commented on how "we" have changed. Look at this board! It has changed a hell of a lot! You want to bash the show? Go ahead...I'm not gonna trash any post saying we suck. Post what ever you wanna post about the show. Have fun...that's what this board started out being and if it goes back to that it would be great. Let's just have a good time!

Thanks,
Anthony

So the question is.... now what?

Our link is still gone and yet that looks like an extension of an olive branch, which could mean that we're not as desperately-dead-in-the-water as we thought.

So what do we do?

And I'm wondering if Anthony read about the format change plans here in BTS and acted to prevent it... just a thought.

But this is the man who I've heard wants us to die a slow and painful death (which is what he intended to accomplish by having our links removed) so perhaps he read BTS and wants us to remain opieanthony.com to ENSURE that we'll die?

Honestly I have no idea but I think we'd all appreciate thoughts and perhaps some fuckin answers.

Click here if you're bored enough to email me.

I don't know what's going on, he never replied to the email I sent last night. I'm hoping he gets back to me today.

We still have to change.... If the links are gone and we're not going to get plugged, there still is no reason not to change over. I think we'd all look quite stupid if after hyping an announcement I just backed off and did nothing. And lastly, we know it will devolve again into the same old bullshit. I mean, how long can things last after what's happened. I don't think I have much choice in the matter.

ok... i think FTL may be on to something... this does seem to be some sort of "olive branch"... Froy, I hope you don't do anything harsh like "DELETE" all these forums....just yet.... if you need an announcement to make to appease the masses, might I suggest saying you are doing a complete makeover, rather than delete & relocate... if for nothing else, to stall for more time before all of GD & whatknot is lost forever...

Personally.... I think this place can & will survive as oa.com with or without any plugs by the show.... enough new people will find us if they need to...

Some brief thoughts:

Yes, that sounds like an olive branch. Finalizing as divorce can do crazy things to people. The guy (and girl) may have just been lashing out in frustration. It's not right, but, I'm willing to cut him some slack in this regard.

OA.com, without links, will still get hits from O&A fans. A search engine will turn up the name and I think Slash made the point (forgive me if I'm wrong) that OpieANDAnthony.com searchers will find this site.

I don't know how to appease the masses if no change is made. Maybe if Anthony gives us all tips on how to get our wives in the same bed with our girlfriends it will serve to bury the hatchet. (sorry, I couldn't resist, and I KNOW that this subject will eventually come out on the show. Hey, that's quite a feat!). But, seriously if Anthony is truly offering an olive branch, if he did it publicly, then with some further spin and changes to the site, it could serve as an alternate "announcement."

Ahhhh what?

I have said this to Froy personality and in BTS, I support any changes he feels should be made to OA.com. But Moron and FTL do make some interesting points. Anthony, did somewhat extended the olive branch to us. This obviously rests in Froy hands as per his next conversation with Anthony, but I would like to see a make over just for excitement purposes but still keep the name OA.com and an OA related message board.

But this could all change when Froy talks to Ant.

Yes I did, and that's how we were getting a lot of members anyway.

As far as an announcement is concerned..

Well, we can announce that -

Ant and Roger are no longer Mods/Admins

That we are getting a complete aesthetic makeover

That we are removing the South Park Forums

and

Adding a movie forum and possible another forum(??) **EDIT** May I suggest a current event forum for the people who actually come here to get their news. It can segue into intelligent discussions/debates on politics, religion and money etc... Sure it will turn into fights(that's what makes this place fun), but at least it is on world issues and not personal drama(that's what kills this place).

That is a start.

And to please the masses, we can have everybody's status wiped clean for a fresh start.

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

Of all the things I thought I'd see when I signed on today this was NOT a remote possibility. I too think we should hold off on total deletion until we get some concrete answers on what's going on with Ant. As for the big announcement, a total site makeover should be sufficiently big enough to keep people happy, I think. The naysayers, and we know who they are, will just scoff, but the people who post here will appreciate the new look and maybe by changing things we will show people that we know there is a problem and we want to turn it around and make the place user-friendly.

I really think we should still go with the de-moddings. I know that we all can determine what is and isn't a personal attack (referencing Spaz bits - no. Referencing Spaz Bang Party - questionable. Referencing Ant's personal issues with Spaz - definitely).... and I think we can do this without Anthony on the delete button FOR us.

Other things to include in the announcement - I still like the two "fresh start" tidbits of wiping statuses and allowing certain banned members back. New site or no, it was just a good idea, IMO. Oh, and don't forget giving the members more of a say in what goes on here (at least thinking they do)...

We've got to start with a fresh way of thinking.... from the top down. And that includes more communication here in BTS. Everything that is even moderately important should be back here - we all have to be on the same page. No one should know more than anyone else, and if someone does, the other mods should be able to come here and find out about it. That is, after all, what this place is for.

And every now and then, we can let people know about an issue, or let them decide something. Perhaps even the choice of a mod, from options we choose of course. Little things to give them that soothing illusion that they can make a difference.

Hey, it works for the United States.

Nothing Ever Goes As Planned
STYX

What'cha going to do when the sun goes down tonight
You'll hit the same old clubs, rap that same old trash
That's right
You've got them real silk shirts and them baggy pants
Dago shoes in the colors that match
But the girls are acting bored
And you're feeling like you're going to lose
You've got the G.Q. Blues

You get up every morning and you go to work each day
(you go to work, you go to work, you go to work)
Been doing the same damn job for ten long years this May
(you've got to work, you've got to work, you've got to work)
You've been working and saving for your Jamaican dream
Paradise is waiting across the sea
But when your plane lands Montego turns to Monsoon
You've got the Island Blues

'Cause, nothing ever goes as planned
It's a hell of a notion
Even Pharaohs turn to sand
Like a drop in the ocean
You're so together and you act so civilized
But every time that things go wrong you're still surprised
You've done your duty, you've paid a fortune in dues
Still got those Mother Nature's Blues

I strut around the stage like a little king tonight
They'll scream for every word and every note, that's right
But when the show is over and I'm all alone
Can't reach my baby on the telephone
And everywhere I look Mr. Loneliness is in the news
I've got the Big Star Blues

Boy, nothing ever goes as planned
It's a hell of a notion
Even Pharaohs turn to sand
Like a drop in the ocean
I'm so together and I act so civilized
But every time that things go wrong
I'm still surprised
I've done my duty and paid a fortune in dues
Still got them Mother Nature's Blues

Cartman's singing Come Sail Away was the only good thing that ever came out of Styx's existence.

Anyway... as a quick update. I left Anthony a message on his answering machine. If he doesn't call me back, I will at least begin announcing our rennovation and policy plans. The other stuff we will wait until I can discuss it with him.

I don't know about styx man, But those Damn Yankees were killer man

High Enough

I don't wanna hear about it anymore
It's a shame I've got to live without you anymore
There's a fire in my heart
A pounding in my brain
It's driving me crazy

We don't need to talk about it anymore
Yesterday's just a memory
Can we close the door
I just made one mistake
I didn't know what to say when you called me baby

Don't say goodnight
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh oo Oh, all the way

Can you take me high enough
To fly me over (fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Yesterday's just a memory (yesterday's just a memory and)

I don't want to live without you anymore
Can't you see I'm in misery
And you know for sure
I would live and die for you
And I'd know just what to do when you call me baby

Don't say goodbye
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh oo Oh, all the way

Can you take me high enough
Can you fly me over (fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Yesterday's just a memory, I'm running
I was running for the door
The next thing I remember
I was running back for more
Yeah...

Don't say goodbye
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh oo Oh, all the way (all the way, all the way, yeah)

Can you take me high enough
Can you fly me over (fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Woh oo oh oo oh oo oh

Can you take me high enough
Won't you fly me over (won't you fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Woh oo oh oo oh oo oh

Froy, considering the title, I COULD have posted the lyrics to 'Always Something There To Remind Me', ya know?

Also, does this mean that at the present time, we are keeping oa.com as the domain?

Look at Face trying to get his music knowledge out there...

I bet you didn't know about this...

My Hallucination
Shaw Blades

Manson lived, Lennon died
You don't know the reason why
I'm cryin'

Thirty years enough time for me
Tell me who shot Kennedy
I'm dying'

Long tall Sally
She comes and goes
Got diamond rings
All through her nose
Is that all we were fighting for?

Somewhere in my hallucination
I thought we were giving peace a chance
But what's a revolution
When the music plays
And no one wants to dance

We paid the price in Vietnam
While crosses burned in Birmingham
I'm sighing

In Memphis now the church bells ring
While L.A. crowns a different king
Can't we all get along

Hi-ho silver
Don't you know
I just got faxed from Tokyo
Is that what we're still fighting for?

Somewhere in my hallucination
I thought we were giving peace a chance
But what's a revolution
When the music plays
And no one wants to dance
Fat chance

Goin' insane with the fun you've had
Who's to blame when it all goes bad
You never know, whoo
Where you gonna go, whoo

Slidin' down on a greasy rope
Check your watch
There goes your hope
Of hangin' on yeah

In Yasger's farm
A flower grows
And where it stops
Nobody knows
I'm flying

Somewhere in my hallucination
I thought we were giving peace a chance
So much for resolution

In my hallucination
I heard someone singing
All you need is love
But all I see
Is war and hate
Well I wonder if we'll ever get enough

Write To Me Here

I’m sorry if some of you find this to be somewhat anti-climactic, but the thread Anthony posted this morning was as much a surprise to me as anyone. His post changed things, and at least delayed the original announcements that I was ready to make on Tuesday night. I know that it’s been a confusing and tense week, I have not been intentionally trying to lead you on or shirk any of your questions and doubts, but everything seems to change by the minute.

I apologize for being vague, but before I make my public the plans that were formulated on Tuesday, Anthony & I have to discuss a few things. I say this only so that you can keep in mind that there are other major site decisions that are in the works but are contingent upon our open conversation. I have no timeframe on that, when Anthony gets back to me, and we settle matters, you will be immediately informed.

This site has changed greatly not only since its birth nearly two years ago, but in dramatic respects during the last six months. We will be making progress and taking steps to develop the site in response to some of those changes, and to allow us to start fresh. Here is what will be taking place almost immediately…

1. The site will be receiving a complete makeover. New colors, buttons, logo, etc. are all in the works and will be instituted as quickly as the design can be made.

2. In addition to the site redesign, there will be changes in the forums themselves. South Park will be erased before the weekend. Fight Club will be re-modeled. And other plans are being discussed for adding/removing other boards.

3. All member statuses will be erased. This does not mean statuses will be disabled, but that everyone will be given the opportunity to start over.

4. In our attempt to start anew, all members who have been banned are welcome to return to the site on a case-by-case basis. Any member who has been banned and wishes to start clean, can contact any moderator or myself and their name will be discussed by the moderators as a group.

As I said, there will be future changes, and there are other matters in the works, I hope to be able to speak of what I originally intended within the next few days. At that time I will go into greater depth about the more recent events and what it has been leading up to. Again I apologize if this all has an incomplete feel. But it seemed better to at least inform you partially than to keep waiting until I could explain everything.

I believe in the Faith... that can save me.
I believe in the hope and I pray...
That someday it may raise me... above these badlands
