O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | I'm reading the Walter Winchell biography by Neal Gabler and it's really interesting how much of an impact Winchell had especially with the New Deal and Roosevelt and intervention in WW2 (and how if you read the book you can pick out a striking amount of similiarities between Winchell and Howard) yet text books and the majority of people don't know who he is or what he did. And I'm wondering who are some of your favorite, most interesting historical figures that made a HUGE impact be it in politics, history, entertainment, etc. that the masses have no clue about. The narrator in Fight Club is the man we will be, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho is the man we want to be Eliza Dushku- Hotter Than Brittny

Psychopath Registered: Jul. 01 | Well first, I would have to say.....me. Seriously though, I don't have an individual, but I've read quite a bit on the lingering influence of the Knights of Templar and their spinoff, the Masons. I'm not referring to the conspiracy theories, but the influence they had across a wide time span. Proud Graduate of the AFDude Academy Soldier of Freedom-Long Live the Socialist C-Bloc

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | If your'e talking about the black guy who died in the Boston Massacre I think his named spelled Crispus Attucks and yes, the Freemasons were an incredibly influential group. Also adding Tammany Hall, text books might mention it breiefly in relation to Boss Tweed but in reality it was a ajor political force in New York since prior to the country was even a country. Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | General Omar N. Bradley: Overshadowed by his boss (Eisenhower), but one of the finest general officers the U.S. Army has seen since Washington. Harry Truman-a strong President, who took the helm at what turned out to be the most rapid pace of change in the history of the world. Seriously underrated (read "Mr. Truman's War" to see just how steep a learning curve he overcame). Medgar Evers-a strong, brave figure often forgotten in the memories of the Civil Rights era.
