I see them in my neighborhood, I either beat them to a pulp with a piece of 1/2 inch round rod Steel, impale them on a pike and sit thm on my frontyard as a reminder to other PETA members or use them as chum for shark fishing. I know I said I belong to PETA, but I also said I only agree with SOME of the things they are against. I cant imagine how horrified that kids mother is/was. (AP) - A shark attacked a married couple wading in the surf off North Carolina's Outer Banks on Monday, killing the man and leaving his wife in critical condition. The death came just two days after the first fatal shark attack this year in the United States. A 10-year-old boy was killed Saturday at Virginia Beach, Va. Dare County Emergency Management officials confirmed the man and woman were attacked around 6 p.m. in Avon, 135 miles south down the coast from Virginia Beach. ``It was beautiful day and there were several people in the water with them,'' said dispatcher N.H. Sanderson. ``The park service is interviewing these people now.'' Dr. Seaborn Blair at Avon Medical Center said the man was dead and the woman was in critical condition. The woman had been flown to the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia with substantial wounds to her lower torso. Blair said he believed the couple were from northern Virginia. The victims' names were not released. They were believed to be in their 20s. The Virginia attack occurred Saturday in 4 feet of water about 50 yards from the shore off Sandbridge Beach, said Ed Brazle, division chief for the city's Emergency Medical Services. The shark ripped a 17-inch gash in 10-year-old David Peltier's left leg and did not release him until after the boy's father hit the shark on the head. The father carried David ashore but he died hours later after losing large amounts of blood from a severed artery. A police helicopter carrying marine scientists periodically flew over Virginia Beach on Monday, and several police boats were on the water. A shark was spotted 200 yards off a military beach that is closed to the public, but marine scientists did not think it was the shark that attacked David. Tourists and residents were talking about the shark attack Monday, but weren't put off enough to cancel hotel reservations or stay away from the beach. Many hotels were sold out, including the Comfort Inn, where owner Addison Richardson said no guests checked out early or expressed fears about sharks. ``It's very sad, but there's no reason to be afraid,'' Chaya Brod of Silver Spring, Md., said Monday as she walked along the sand at Virginia Beach while her husband and three of her children played in the surf. ``You have to be out deep in the water in order to be attacked. It doesn't bother me.'' In Florida, a sailor at the Mayport Naval Station near Jacksonville was bitten on the foot by a shark Sunday, Navy officials said Monday. The bite was apparently not serious, and the man was treated at a hospital and released. His name was not released. Fifty-two shark attacks have occurred worldwide this year, including three fatal ones, said George Burgess of the International Shark Attack File in Gainesville, Fla. Twenty-nine have been in Florida waters. Last year, there were 84 shark attacks worldwide, 53 in the United States, he said. All it took was that one boy's story in Florida to catch the country's attention, now every media outlet in the country basically falls under the same "genius" idea: shark attack = ratings. In other words all the shark stories that used to be ignored are suddenly big news cause the media is nothing more than self-serving. They only put on the stories that will get more people to watch. | Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Not for nothing, but the bible says we have "dominion" over animals. It doesn't say we should do with them what we please. "Dominion" doesn't mean "tyranny". Just wanted to say that. And i don't think PETA members are bad at all. People like to make them out to be, but i'm a member of PETA and i don't spout out my "animal rights" propaganda everywhere. I just think that some things in this world are out of hand when it comes to treatment of animals, but i, as i'm sure many other PETA members do, have many other interests that go far beyond vegetarianism, O&A is one of them. I'm not trying to start a fight, or even a debate here, i'm just saying that i don't like to be lumped into some category just because i donate to PETA. After all, it does make sense that more and more sharks are finding their way onto the beaches because overfishing is detroying a lot of what the sharks naturally feed on. What makes this so much different than when O & A tool on some retard, or king gimp and everyone thinks its funny? You're kind of acting like the very people you bitch about when they "just don't get it". What makes king gimp okay, but shark attack victims untouchable? I'm just curious. They just want people to pay attention. If over fishing of the oceans was somehow controlled (it is out of hand) sharks wouldn't need to look to little Johnny for a snack. This would benefit the fish that are being saved from commercial fishing, AND the humans who are not attacked by sharks. ..and Sloats.. i am in no way christian. Charity starts at home, don't worry about feeding starving kids in Asia, or saving the fucking whales when we have starving children in the US that get no help.

For many, that reason is to be our food. Sure, it may not have been that way many centuries ago, but it is now. And there is no amount of protesting, whining, bitching, complaining, or campaigning that is going to change it. Why? Think of chickens. Or cows. Ever seen one alive in the wild? Unless you've been to India (where cows still aren't wild, they're worshipped) I can guarantee you haven't. And when our ancestors, long ago, captured every chicken and every cow, and instead of catching them, started to breed them, it fucked things up. The food chain changed - no more chickens for their hunters to eat. So the ecosystem adapts - they eat something else. Farm animals are bred to be food. You can't change every mind of every person in the world, country, state, hell not even your own home town. There are still going to be people who want to tear their teeth into a nice bloody hunk of steak. Activism doesn't make problems go away. It makes the activists feel better about themselves. "Oh I'm doing something good for the animals.... I'm helping to make the world a better place." That's activism, in a nutshell. Know what else I like to call that? Masturbation. Because in reality, all you're doing is fantasizing about something, and it makes you feel good when you do it. Want to argue more about created life? Sure... how about lab animals? I see no problem. The animals are created for one purpose - test shit out on them. Why? To preserve ourselves. Now this isn't masturbation, mind you, because scientific developments actually can have a positive effect on people as opposed to just fantasizing. So to keep with the metaphor, this would be the real thing.... maybe not sex, perhaps just third base if you want to get technical. The masturbation part is when you get into cloning. Sure, it's okay to clone Dolly, but when it comes to a person, suddenly everyone's a fucking moral crusader. Politicians who fuck and/or kill their interns are telling us about how cloning isn't ethical - isn't that great? This is research that can save REAL LIVES.... if you perfect the technology, especially stem cells, you can do amazing things. Think of this - let's say a 55-year-old guy's heart is failing, and he's waiting for a transplant. Instead of the transplant, they put in an artificial heart. But what if they could take a sample of the guy's DNA and just MAKE HIM A NEW HEART? It would be his own heart. Brand new, never used. A 100% DNA match with his original heart. Take out old heart, put in new heart. No worries about rejection by the body - cause the body will never know the damn difference.... it's the same heart. Now that's not technology that will be available next week, but that's where it can go... So.... the point is this... stop masturbating. You'll go blind.
