Unemployed man trampled to death in job stampede

An unemployed Indian man was trampled to death when thousands of job hopefuls stampeded an army recruiting post.

Dilip Bhattacharya, 20, was crushed underfoot as 8,000 job seekers stormed the office when it opened in the morning.

They had formed a queue several miles long but rushed the office in Calcutta when it opened earlier than they expected.

Dilip slipped on rocks strewn across the path leading up to the gate. He tried several times to get up, but his ankle was trapped under a heavy boulder and he was trampled, reports The Telegraph.

He died from his injuries in a city hospital.

At least he strove to obtain a job. That's more of an effort than any American can say he or she made.

"Hey I have a question for you too- why are you still here?"

Ding Ding Ding

When I have fears that I may cease to be/ Before my pen has gleaned my teaming brain,/ Before high-piled books, in charactery,/ Hold like rich garners the full ripened grain;/ When I behold, upon the night's starred face,/ Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,/ And think that I may never live to trace/ Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance,/ And when I feel, fair creature of a hour,/ That I shall never look upon thee more,/ Never have relish in the fairy power/ Of unreflecting love--then on the shore/ Of the wide world I stand alone, and think/ Till love and fame to nothingness do sink. --Keats
