hey destroying a country has happened in the past, and will continue to happen in the future. what happened to babalonya (sp?) and pursia?? gone. yes it's true that they "lay" where iraq and iran are, but none of the people are still there. i don't know any babalonians. this is history, countries come and go. well, it's time for afghanastan to go, and not be heard from for hundreds of years. NO RESTRAINT on these people, don't even warn them. if they're too stupid to realize what's going on, the deserve to die. bin laden thought this was funny, we should really give him something to laugh about.

that is to date the dumbest thing and most ignorant statement i have heard.

Let's just rape and pillage countries like Attilla the Hun and Genghis Khan did? Why not enslave arabs like we did to blacks? Why not repeat history and become barbarians like the huns and macedonians were?

Fuckin idiot.

Dan, it is not an honorable response, but it is the only response we can give. their are no options, there are no othere ways, Decisive Military Strikes against all terrorist supporting countries is all we can do. It's War, that is how war is, and must be.

Aren't we luck you're not in office. This coming from a man with no inside intelligence or the means to gain access to it. How do YOU know what our options are? We have Black Ops and Seal times around the world gather information. They just invoked Article 5, giving the US access to intelligence agencies of dozens of allies.

Killing innocent people will NOT work. I wish you would get that through your head. Killing innocents only ENRAGE them further. Rising tensions between both countries can ONLY lead to REALLY bad things, like nuclear or biological attacks. I doubt you'd enjoy dying for your ridiculous principles. If you are, I suggest you enlist now.

Bin Laden is most likely just a false front for Iraq(like Uncle Junior was the "mob boss",while Tony Soprano really pulled the strings.)He probably isn't even in Afghanistan. We could probably bomb the craggy mountains in Afghanistan
for years and not hit anything of real importance. The misdirection is probably for this purpose.

Note that many of the terrorists already ID'ed are from Egypt and Saudi Arabia, moderate Arab countries that we are ostensibly friends with. That is probably also not a coincidence;we can't bomb our "friends".This is also a thought-out thing.

I don't see a satisfactory strategy for this.If we bomb many of the Arab countries,I believe the next terrorist atttack is going to be ANTHRAX.Your lungs fill up with mucous, and you die of suffocation in 24-48 hours.

The possible winning strategy is an all-out,withering nuclear attack on ALLthe Arab countries;then we will be charged with genocide.

It is going to be very difficult to beat people who believe that when one of their prelates declares a Jihad(holy war),then any of them who die for the Jihad go immediately to heaven and have all sorts of benefits there(70 virgins?).

This event will change the world. It's hard to grasp. It's hard to understand. And it's impossible to forget.

The palestinian populations in Isreal and Afghanistan number in the 50,000 range. They are a minority with no real country. We don't even know if the palestians are behind it. The fact of the matter is no one country is behind this.

Arab Americans are not our enemies, Palestinian Americans are not our enemies. Americans are not our enemies. Terrorists are. Many of the people who live here from countries that might be harboring these criminals are completely disgusted and outraged at this act of war.

Don't get me wrong, if a country has the audacity to support the actions of these scumbags they should be wiped off the face of this planet, but what are the repecussions of that?

We have to ask ourselves, what is the proper form of action. We are dealing with people who WANT TO DIE to become martyrs for the cause. Killing them furthers their cause.

Its a tough, complicated situation which I fear will take a long time to unravel and appropriately act upon.

The inherent problem with anti-terrorism is that terrorism is the last resort of people who don't have the means to fight any other way. While it is clear that there was a fairly large and diverse support network behind the terrorists in these planes, the actual participants probably numbered 10-20.

We could bomb Afganistan and all Muslim countries back into the stone age tomorrow, but there will no doubt be at least 20 able bodied men left who are even more enraged to commit an identical act.

I'm not the President. I don't have any intelligence. I don't know our strengths and weaknesses. But, I know a tactical nuclear strike would be a major mistake.

On CBS last night, they showed a 20/20 piece shot a few months ago in which they interviewed Islamic Militants who held pieces of Cruise Missiles that hit Afganistan in 1998 (in the wake of the Embassy bombings) and these militants talked of innocent family members killed with much the same anger that we are all experiencing right now.

Obviously, I'm not defending these people. I firmly believe that their leaders started this entire chain of events. I believe there is no greater cause than democracy.

I'm just trying to convey that a large military strike against an unknown target that has interspersed itself among innocents would be imprudent at this juncture.

What we need to do (and this is solely my unqualified opinion) is order the Taliban to turn over all known terrorists immediately and back that up with tanks on their border (even before this disaster, we have enough on Bin Laden and hundreds of terrorists in Afganistan to prosecute them for murder. In Fact, we KNOW the Taliban has committed genocide on it's own people and American Citizens so we should have no qualms about taking over the country). We also need to the same to Iraq. We then need to prosecute these terrorists to the fullest extent of American Law. If they do not turn them over, we occupy the country and install a democratic government and we seek out these terrorists ourselves.

That is a measured response. Unfortunately, it will most likely mean more loss of American life.

There is no good answer. And, the bottom line is: no vengeance of any size will bring back our friends and family.

That is a very logical response. I agree that nuclear is a very dangerous idea. But it seems simple: we bomb them, kill them all, completely wipe them off of our planet, and live on! Fuck it! At this point, I dont care if more innocent Arabs die. If they are celebrating death of our friends and loved ones then, they are evil and should be removed from existance. It's like "the bearded men of space station 11" If you have a beard, you can't live in space. If you live in space and have a beard, then you're an alien. If you laugh and celebrate at what happened Tuesday, then you should not be on earth.

True though, the funny part is going to be when these friggin smelly dirty towelheads find out that we all worship the same God! I hope God gives them a nice kick in the ballies or a nice cunt punch!

2 Points

a) It doesn't matter if the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, or any other country that we have fairly good diplomatic relations with. bin Laden has supporters all over the Middle East and the world. We need to take out his training grounds, his assets, and him. Then we need to do the same for every similar organization.

b) An attack this quick would be foolish. This is going to take time. We need to get enough troops to the area to do the job. Sure, we have planes and ships in the area but any invasion would have to be done through another country(Pakistan or a former Soviet republic) since Afghanistan is landlocked. Remember how long the Gulf War buildup took?

I think too many of us are trying to focus on one person and one nation. This is bigger then that. This includes many of the nations of the middle east with everything from leaders of those nations to very rich oil men who give money to those people. Do not put too much on Osama Bin Laden many many more are to blame for this. Whats the use of killing or putting him on trail if all the other parts are left to pull off more attacks like this or worse.

ok, let me just clear something up, i don't mean that countries disappeared, simply, that the empires are no longer. it is time, and it should have been done with in the first 24 hours, to distroy the taliban empire in afghanastan. time is ticking, next week, sadly will be too late to do anything. this should be a quick response to get the point across to these sons of bitches. if the taliban doesn't know where bin laden is, they did when he bombed the embassy in kenya, and are guilty of that.
anothor thing, arafat was involved in the '93 wtc bombing, and he loved to hijack planes, ships, etc, before any "peace treaty" was signed. i wouldn't put it passed arafat to be involved in this attack either.

that just makes me sick, just like the kids celebrating in the streets.

But don't you all understand, this is only the beginning, and on top of that, if we kill him, there's only 1000s more willing to carry out his work. Should we wipe them all out? No, because I believe that somehow there are good people in those countries. If we just stereotype and hate them all, we're no better than them.
