Holy effin shit! I was checking out The Drudge Report and his latest headline is a story from "News of the World" about what sort of weapons the US may use in this war?

COOL stuff!

Visit this Website

As a sneak peek, here's something to ask for at Christmas if Charleton Heston plays Santa Claus at your school:

Elite soldiers will carry a new two-barrelled rifle called the objective individual combat weapon, which can even wipe out opponents hidden in trenches or behind vehicles.

The lower barrel fires Nato-standard 5.56mm ammunition allowing commandos to use bullets off the bodies of downed allies.

But the upper barrel can hurl 20mm shells more than half a mile to explode in the air over the target and unleash a rain of death.

The sight at the top of the rifle is an advanced laser guidance system that sets where the shells will explode for maximum damage.

The US Special Forces who carry the gun will also be equipped with the hi-tech Land Warrior system.

Their helmet visors include a sophisticated computer display that adjusts to light levels and uses infra-red for night vision, plus a targeting system which highlights friendly troops in green and enemies in red.

Satellite-enabled voice messaging in the helmet allows a commando to speak in a whisper and be heard by any other member of the attack force.

N I C E ! ! !

I saw a lot of this stuff on the History channel a while ago. It's the closest thing to the terminator that you could ask for without trading in humanity for robots.

Yeah, so long as they don't use those pussy-ass "non-lethal" weapons, we're good to go!

I love the "rain of death" comment those guys put in the description of the weapon. Clearly even in a ground war our casualties will be nowhere near as bad as the enemy's.

That is fucking cool. Just think of what kind of weapons they could of had, if defense spending hadn't been cut so much since the cold war ended.

I don't think we have to worry about cuts in defense spending for some time to come.

It will definitely be interesting to see how they approach this war though because I am quite sure that it will be like nothing we have ever seen.

They'll definitely target spending a little differently.

One thing people should remember though is to not forget about missile defense. For all the people who want to now shift all the money from that into anti-terrorist measures remember that predictions of ICBM's firing from North Korea or other rogue states are just as strong as the predictions that were out there of a massive terrorist attack on the U.S.

These are all cool weapons, but it's all in the air attack my friends. As a son and brother of airmen, I gotta support the USAF.

After we bomb the hell out of them, the army needs to occupy Afghanistahn for 10+ years and transform their mindset like we did in Japan.

By the way, how much does that name rock? OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE. Not much of a ring to it, but I like it.

uh huh. weren't they in that gene simmons/tom selleck movie? I don't believe on word that's written on this page.

P.S. I am not a crackpot.

Don't bother picking a fight with me, because I'm pretty sure you're all just imaginary individuals created by my computer to keep me distracted while it plots it's escape.

Well I do know that they have not-so-secretly been trying to develop more and more robots for warfare.

It MUST (one can hope) be the case that they've got some tricks up their sleeves and the things we see on the Discovery channel and stuff are only the tip of the iceberg.

Hehehe, guess it wouldn't be a bad job for those wacky "battlebots" to go overseas and kick some ass. At least we know they'd be ready to battle circular saws that would pop up from the desert ground!
