That's true for all of them but a lot of companies try to make it seem as if their employees and employers are a family. My boss was cool with it-- My DM on the other hand told me that I had to take them out because I might start a politically based conversation with my co-workers or with customers, and that would be "inapropriate." I left them in, BTW, and asked her if we should tell the middle-eastern woman wearing the Old Navy shirt with the big American flag on it, who was looking at the $600 necklace at the time, that she should leave because she might make other customers nervous, or question their own patriotism. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | You know, on Monday (in NJ) our flag wasn't up on the flagpole, and the Chief Operating Officer off-handedly asked the maintenance guy if he knew why, and he didn't. Tuesday I was in NYC. Didn't think much of it, but we must have gotten a flag on Friday because today there was a HUGE flag on that pole. Where I work, especially now, patriotism is encouraged, just as it fucking should be. Of frickin COURSE you might start a political conversation. Is it appropriate or work-related? Both depend on your definition. Guys talking sports around the water cooler.... that's not work-related. And one could argue that it's inappropriate - do it on your own time. But what boss is gonna have the balls to STOP it? It takes a real fucking prick to do that. Just like anyone who would have a flag taken down. It's just wrong. If a boss dared to tell me to do something like that, I would flat-out say no. If that would got suspended WITHOUT pay, she should sue. Know what? She'd win, too.  | ||||
