| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | ok, i just felt like i needed to share this with someone. i'm sure i'm gonna get rounds of "dillon" or "care?" and of course the obligatory wiseass comment from grk, but i just wanted to say it. its a long story, but bear with me. Today around 5:00 or so, i was in my dorm, bsing with a few people, no big deal. i get this weatherbug alert: Tornado Warning for Prince George's County until 8:00 PM (i'm in PG county). i think, hey no big deal, like a fuckin tornado is gonna hit near me. around 5:30 i see thunder and rain and crazy wind outside. the guy across the hall looks left and says "OH SHIT!" i look out and what do i see-what looks like the formation of a tornado. at this point i am still not freaked out, just rain and wind right? wrong. about 2 minutes later i look out my window, a HUGE fucking tornado touches down across the street, about 30 feet from my dorm room next to ther performance arts center. it then proceeds to come right at my dorm building. i then run as far from my window as humanly possible, the wind in my room was immense, windows closed and everything. my window fan then just exploded, and there was smoke and dust everywhere. then a car from the parking lot slammed into my building, killing the two people in it. then the fun really begins. i go outside after it passes and see the carnage place looks like a fucking war zone. trees fallen everywhere, overturned cars, a building was totally levelled. they then proceed to heard us into the basements of other buildings. we then find out that theres a gas leak in the building next to mine and students are being evacuated from the area. i'm in a computer lab now, not knowing where i can sleep or if i have a place to stay tonight, because i'm not allowed back in my dorm. you don't know what being scared is until you see a huge ass tornado coming right at you, and then hits your building. it was beyond fucked up. thus concludes my evening...its been an interesting month of college so far. to recap since i got here: 1. student dies on frat row 2. armed robberies on campus 3. that tiny little WTC issue 4. and now a fucking tornado. fun, huh?  and thinking's just too much to ask and you're measuring your minutes by a clock thats blinking eights This message was edited by CriticsLoveSnatch on 9-25-01 @ 1:26 AM | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | great pictures WBK - that 4th picture with the duct in the tree? look in the background. thats my dorm. the diner with the blinds coming thru is where i am most days for food. the "lot 2" refence at the bottom: the tornado went right through parking lot 2 - if your car was there, theres a 99% chance that you have no car anymore. they are all flipped on top of each other, completely fucking totalled. and thinking's just too much to ask and you're measuring your minutes by a clock thats blinking eights | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | well i'm back in my room, they let us back in around 1 AM last night. right now there are cleanup crews everywhere, cutting up trees and fixing broken glass and such...its been an unreal couple of days. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | CLS, thants fucked up. A small one touched down briefly in Staten Island some years ago, and though the damage wasn't as severe it was still pretty bad.
