Man Accused in Sex Abuse of Daughter By Andrew Smith STAFF WRITER October 1, 2001 A Dix Hills truck driver has been charged with sodomizing his daughter since she was three months old and offering to swap her so he could have sex with other men's young daughters, authorities said. The man, 35, is not being identified by authorities because doing so would identify the alleged victim. He is charged with first-degree sodomy and is being held in the Suffolk County jail on bail of $100,000 cash. "I'm very upset about this case," said District Attorney James M. Catterson Jr. "It's really sad." The girl is now 4 years old. Catterson said police became aware of the man when he began corresponding with an undercover police officer in an Internet chat room. The man allegedly boasted about what he'd done to his daughter and said he couldn't wait until he could have sexual intercourse with her. Authorities said they believe the man was training her to be a sex slave. Catterson said the man offered to "lend" his daughter to the undercover officer, believing the officer in return would let him "borrow" his 9-year-old daughter. "She would know what to do with other men?" the officer asked. "She knows from when we play," the man allegedly replied. The man allegedly said he had told his daughter they would meet other men soon and "have fun." The man lived with his wife and an older son, Catterson said. "Who knows what they knew?" he said. There is nothing to know, said the man's attorney, Robert Gottlieb of Commack. The charges are "outrageous and false," he said. "We are conducting our own investigation," Gottlieb said, suggesting his client was entrapped into making claims that weren't true. "We're very concerned about the method of investigation." Gottlieb said the man denied committing any sexual acts with his daughter. "He gave a statement [to police] which does not support the horrific and outrageous charges they're alleging," Gottlieb said. "He's shocked by what he's charged with." Gottlieb said the man's wife does not believe the charges against her husband. Catterson said the girl herself corroborated the charges. "My daddy has been giving me bad touches since I was three," she told investigators, according to Catterson. "He was literally training her in a few years to have sex with him," Catterson said of the man. In the chat room, the man allegedly boasted that he had more than 500 pornographic images of children on his computer. Police seized the computer and recovered child pornography from it, Catterson said. Some of them were photos and video clips of the daughter performing sex acts, he said. Catterson praised Suffolk sex crimes detectives for making the arrest and said the case illustrates the importance of attacking child sex abuse. "This is our first priority," he said.
