Try Yahoo Messenger, you'll never want to go back. I keep AIM only for people who don't have anything else and use a variety of free dial-ups as my ISP.

Better yet, get Trillian. It combines AIM/ICQ/IRC MSN and Yahoo Messangers all in one program.

First of all, AOL IM(AIM) software was created by a third party. Thus then inbyfacto, AOL still hasn't made anything worthwhile.

Odigo

Trillian

These are two chat software programs, as was pointed out with Trillion, that combine several IM programs. I was unaware about IRC. Thanks for the tip:)

I haven't used either, but that goes without saying. However, I am pretty sure, but not positive, they can't do what AIMSTER does.

2. Easy email system. Even if they have cable/dsl, they pay the $10 B.Y.O.A. (Bring Your Own Access) fee for email.

I have Cable modem and use AOL for its parental controls because my kids cant visit the sites that they shouldnt see.

It wasn't broke for me so I had no reason to replace it.I never really had any major problems with it,Never got booted, allways connected at 51000 to 53300bps.But I also made sure my Phonelines were in good shape.Plus with 2 kids, it was what all their friends were on.

Now I'm using a cable service.
I still delete my email using aol,but I refuse to load anyother software other than aim.Aol was getting too carried away with their updates and were causing more problems than the software was worth.

?i don't pay for it
?my dad likes to use it at work (dial-up) so he's
stupid and pays the full price
?too lazy to resign everything to a new addy
?i've had it for years (i didn't know any better)
?my parents are lucky if they can remember how to
cut and paste, never mind use IE

doesn't bother me either way if we have it or not.
i use if mostly for mail and that's thru aol.com
cause i'm lucky if i can get on the way the rest
of the fam uses it.
one thing i do like is being able to insert pix..
i've never actually looked into other ISP's that
can do that.. can anyone help me there?

lyneday -

In Microsoft Outlook Express 5

To insert a picture in a message

  1. In the message, click where you want the
    image to appear.

  2. On the Insert menu, click Picture, and then
click Browse to find the image file.

  3. Enter Layout and Spacing information for
    the image file as needed.

Notes

  • If you cannot select the Picture command,
make sure HTML formatting is turned on by
clicking the Format menu in the message
window and then clicking Rich Text (HTML). A
black dot appears by the command when it is
    selected.

  • If message recipients are not able to view
your inserted images, click the Tools menu,
and then click Options. Click the Send tab,
click HTML Settings, and then make sure that
Send pictures with messages is selected.
    Then resend your message.

  • To insert a background picture in your
message, in the message window, click the
Format menu, point to Background, and then
click Picture. Click the Browse button to
search for the file you want to use.

I am sure the full Outlook works the same.

Eudora and others have their own help files.
