| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | its true. these guys don't play by the same rules as we do. i have heard stories of russians, while at war with afghanistan, who were put on a tree or post with a hole in the stomach, and left in the sun for the animals. it could get really ugly out there if they take any of the soldiers alive. The main difference is that Russia was trying to take over the land and become the new government. We want 1 thing, Bin Laden. We are not going to be sending 100's of thousands of troups. We will be sending in small groups of special forces and the Afgans will be lucky if they even know we are there. We have better weapons Better technology Better Education Better Government More dedicated soldiers (alot of thiers are already running to join the Northern Alliance) Better Values The only advantage they have is the fact that they knopw the terrian. I remember the media Hyping up Iraq as the biggest army in the world and Desert Storm was going to be a long war....in way they may be right...Im sure those 3 weeks were the longest 3 weeks of Iraqs peoples lives.  , | ||||

Saddam threatened to use POW's as human shields during the Gulf War, prisoners in Vietnam were treated unmercifully (Read 'Faith of my Fathers' by John McCain), and to top it all off I have just three words for you... Bataan Death March. I highly suggest that every person read "My Hitch In Hell" by Lester Tenney. It is one of the most graphic and frightening depictions of life on the Bataan Death March and the ensuing years of captivity, forced slavery, and torture during WWII.  I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands | ||||

The soviets never leveled the air ass kicking we are in the process of doing. They never gave heavy air cover to ground troops.
