There are 2 reasons why this movie was bad: 1. it was almost 2 and a half hours of crap. the ending was nothing special and it just dragged on. 2.the obvoius reason y this movie sucked is because Heather Grahm DOES NOT get Naked. I thought it was bad..whoevers seen it tell me what you think. | ||||

I posted a mini review on RF.net and here it is: From Hell isn't so much a bad movie as it is a dissapointment. First off it's incredibly gory - proably the goriest movie all year, if not for the past couple of years- so if that's your cup of tea, you'll enjoy the gore. However I felt unfulfilled. They had EXCELLENT material of which to work with- famous case, incredibly awesome settings, yet it was directed so amateurishly. No suspense was built, they could hav eused things like lighting (I'm not the type who looks at every aspect of film but for some reason lack of use of effective lighting stuck out) to muchj better effect. The entire Freemason thing could have been done better and the Heather Graham romance totally didn't work. And the script should have been reworked. That being said there were some good things. It's good seeing gore again in a mainstream flick. Johnny Depp as always was cool, even though he was kind of Icabod II, but he can carry a movie better than Mark Whalberg can (I still say a Depp helmed Planet of the Apes would have been cooler). Robbie Coltrane was pretty good. The detective parts and politics involved were actually enjoyable. Also Seph, there's a scene early in the movie- you'll wonder why the hell are they showing us this, and in the back of your mind you know it will come into play later in the movie. | O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00 | quote: frenchy are you 12??? not every movie has to be about who gets naked and who doesnt. i hate people like that talk about the validity and worthiness of a movie based on if a character gets naked or not. want nudity?? turn on cinemax after dark. as for the movie, i thought it wasnt bad. i mean it seems all you people are looking for an epic here. not every movie is going to be a great cinematic experience. it was a pretty good film. very bloody, what we called a "squishy" film because all you hear for a while is squishy noises. i agree that if you pay attention you can figure out who the killer but this wasnt supposed to be a mistery anyway so that point is kinda moot. as for "a typical ending"??? if you think that the decision that johnny depp had to make at the end, going against his heart like he did. and then having happened to him was a typical hollywood ending, then i would love to see the movies that you watch. that was anything from typical. anyway i would reccommend it for anybody that is in the mood for a horror movie. just dont expect "war and peace", like it seems everyone else in this thread was looking for  I feel so alive for the very first time, I can’t deny you I feel so alive I feel so alive for the very first time And I think I can fly | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | Well when i saw the previews for this movie i couldnt wait to go and see it. i still havent and having read this thread, though helpful in some respects, hasnt deturred me from doing so. Now even though previews make any movie look good, im still gonna try it out because i like these kind of movies. Some people are too critical when they watch movies, stop looking for every little thing thats wrong with the movie and jus enjoy it.
