This is aeither a mechanical failure or a bird sucked into the engine. The person who suggested a seagull gets sucked into the Pakistani's plane in the traitor thread must feel like shit about right now. Someone broke into the cockpit, threw the engine in reverse and the force ripped the engine off the wing and caused it to explode. 3. Mechanical failure like Flight 800. 4. Sabotage. 5. Alien laser. 6. Little green gremlins. 7. Big hairy gremlin looking for William Shatner. | ||||

Sure it sucks, but the likely explination is that the Engine failed and exploded from possibly a bird or something else getting sucked into the turbine. Let's just hope that the residents of the area are ok. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | The explosion statement is no need to worry. Engine fire over a fuel tank in the wing would eventualy lead to an explosion. And yes a seagull can bring down this plane. If you break the fins of a turbine engine, the engine will explode. American Patriot, Pennsylvania resident, but original NYC listener. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I know this sounds crazy and I don't believe it. but I was listening to Don and Mike and some guy calls up and brings up Mike Moran the firefighter from rockaway queens who told bin ladin to kiss his royal irish ass on the paul mccartney benfit concert.The odds of this being the cause is astronomicaly low but it is a strange coincidence. the rockaway peninsula is a small piece of land no more than 1/2 mile wide at the piont of impact.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | 3 1/2 hours after the crash, the FBI has turned this over to the NTSB (accident), all witnesses describe an engine/ wing fire (accident) the FAA has not closed down any airspace except NYC (accident). Based on all of this, why is all of the news agencies grasping to a possible terroist action? Why are they interviewing people about screening of checked luggage? Why do they keep saying that "it appears to be an accident, but officials are not ruling out foul play"? Why do they insist on making people think that it might be something other than what it is?
