The human race has been around for a few thousand years. In that time, we've grown in leaps and bounds as far as knowledge goes. But, on a larger scale, what do we really know? And how much of what we know will be disproven in the future?

Like the Earth being a sphere, we thought it was flat for many many years.

Or like religion, most of us know there's some degree of bullshit to it.

Sometimes I wonder if there's something that we just missed, that could change the way we think about everything. What if gravity is all in your head? Or what if there's a 4th dimension?

Remember, foreward thinking people have always been dismissed as crazy, but then gone on to be heralded in death. I'm not the next Socrates by any means, but knowing that there has to be shit that we don't know, really gets me thinking sometimes.

I think we're missing a lot with outer space in general, we have no clue what type of advances or discoveries could be made through exploring the universe.

But then again yes, the female mind is quite the curious contraption.

Sephiroth, when and where was that article published??

How about: What if apes and neanderthals were really lab rats from an alien race, dumped on Earth to die? That would throw off the evolution theory completely.

And every crazy person under the sun uses this rationale to delude themselves to not think that they are nutty. Genius can sometimes be confused as dimensia, but more often, Genius is acknowledged as genius, and retarded nutbags are are exactly what everyone thinks they are.

Being crazy is one thing, believing something that others don't comprehend is quite another. Imagine explaining a computer to someone from the 18th century. They would probably lynch you as a witch, rather than buy into your obvious hysteria.

My point is, it's a bit difficult to judge some things, simply because we know nothing about them.

I mean, what if there really is a guy in the sky that makes the world go 'round. I don't think there is because it's just not logical, but then again what the fuck do I know?

And that's my point really, that we don't know. Even the shit that we do know, how can we be sure?

I know a red pen is red, but only because that's how I see it. What if red looks different to you? Someone who's colorblind would obviously see red differently than you or I. What if we see it wrong?

you mean what if the color you see as red and call red is what I see as green and call red? And someone else sees it as purple and calls it red? The possibilities are endless man.

That's deep man.

In short, you know what people tell you. The ones who try and find out something different, never do, and if they do, they never get any reward or recognition for it.

Don't worry Dean Kamen will solve all of the world's ills with that friggin backwards motorized dolly of his.

I love philosophy, so I'll be serious.

I don't think any two people can see the same thing in the same way. We gain knowledge through our senses and experiences, that is the only way we can "know" the outside world. But since our knowledge depends on perceptions, which can be incorrect, can we really "know" the world outside of ourselves?

Appearances be deceiving, and wouldn't different people who have had different experiences perceive things differently? Take a mirage, for example: to a thirsty person in the middle of the desert it exists? But does it really exist? According to Descartes, though, the only thing that we can be sure of is that we exist. (I think, therefore I am) But who knows? Our brains could be in a box somewhere, with someone plugging in different sense data to make you feel like you're living experiences (we discussed this in a class before The Matrix came out, but it is a strange and entirely possible idea)

The question I'm always plagued with is do we have a soul? And is there room for spirituality in the modern world?

And by the way, you may one day find out if God exists, but you'll never figure us out :P

Im not going to go indepht about my feelings on religion, because I went through 8 years of catholic school and quite frankly, I'm fucking sick of it. I will say this however: If I believed in God, I would have made a habit of start Church fires a looooong time ago.

You perceive music when you hear it. It's hit or miss, it may appeal to your ears or it may not. Either that or you have no taste :) And anyway, I just try to get people to listen to something out of the mainstream, is that so wrong? Sorry you didn't like the album Slash...and why must all our convos on here have to do with them?

Try this link from a moron - http://www.ancientamerican.com/article30p1.htm

*Warning!* It's a 5 page article about an archaeological find with SPECULATION. But I like the Indiana Jones-ish quality to it. However, I don't think you find it as earth shattering as Seph's article...but it is related, in that it's about things buried deep and hard to find:)

1. It was a joke.

2. I didn't listen to them yet.

3. It was my way of spamming the Kyuss name all over the board to get the word out. Is that so bad?. In other words I was "spamming in the name of..."

4. Not all of our conversations. I don't believe I have mentioned Kyuss to you in any of the chat/slacker/questions threads ;)

I lost a keychain once and it took me about a month to get over it. It was a really cool keychain with a grain of rice that had my name on it. Everytime I looked at it a smile was forced onto my face. Damn I missed that keychain.

Then my grandpa killed himself, and I stole one of his keychains (its not like he was going to be using it any time soon). It's a really stupid one with a fake arrowhead on it, but everytime I look at it I am reminded of my old keychain and the joy that it brought me.

I still miss my old keychain, but I know that it will never really be lost. It might not be with me physically, but I will never lose the wonderful memories that I have of that keychain.

And to keep on topic: my perception of what you posted differed from your actual intent. appearance vs. reality

Kinda like when Kid posts, huh?

He doesn't mean to deliberately defile threads, but the posts he makes defiles threads.

Oh wait... that isn't appearance vs. reality, that is cause and effect, lol
