Hopefully every member brings something to the table when they post. While some may bring more than others, every member who "Thinks before they post", hopefully adds something.

So why can't (or shouldn't) TeenWeek post newsarticles. Personally I don't read them because they are usually longer than my interest.

Kid stated that TW doesn't add any personal opinion or insight. But so what. Maybe he doesn't have any worth giving. Maybe the article is stupid and the thread gets flamed. But maybe others pick up something and run with it. Either way there is enjoyment to be had.

The only time I personally get annoyed is when a gimmick gets overdone and is found in every thread. Be it a Joe Soprano bad joke, or a gratuitous whore posting.

But aside from that everyone has a style. Everyone brings something and I think it's not healthy for the board to shout someone down.

Beware Seph, they might ban ninja zombies next.

Fuck me now, please. I can not control it anymore you fuckin do it for me baby. You have no idea how hard I am now, the puss is barely being containing in my sores.

But I kinda agree but the whole "this is a free forum" works both ways. Kinda like when you were a kid and when your parents wanted you to do chores all of a sudden "you're an adult and handle some responsilbility." Then at the same token you wanna stay out late you are all of a sudden "just a child."

So yes it is a free forum to a point, but it wasn't said they can't post news stories. But it was getting to the point that they were posting every single news story coming across the AP. plus consolidating certain threads was also a good idea, like the birthday threads and movie. Should people be told what not to post? yes and no it's all a matter of pure judgement.

Amen to that, but joe soprano is still not funny. It is ok to redo the joke just make it a little different, change the context don't just repeat it.

As far as TeenWeek, cut and paste is not a style, it is.. well i don't know what to fucking call it, but it is not a "style." I know what it is, it is his "Dan Rather Gimmick."

I think it all started with the Declaration of Independence -- the idea that we had the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That pursuit is what took America from the revolution to the computer age in 200 years. But the progress has come at a price. The obvious being the people that were exploited to make it possible; the not so obvious being us, the first group of people that were given no obvious frontiers to conquer. We hear stories that about the good old days that don't seem to apply anymore. It's a generation gap that leaves us without role models. But the bright side is that without role models, there are no roles. Maybe that's what the 60s were all about -- getting rid of the roles. But what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, what do we replace them with? Without any guidance, the choices become overwhelming. Sometimes it just makes everything feel hopeless. So we destroy our bodies in the search of an ideal. Try to salvage relationships that don't work. We feel we must do something, instead of doing something that we feel. It is the prison of self-imposed momentum, and the sad part is that we get used to it. It reminds me of a song I heard the other day. It's called "The Going Nowhere Fast." But the people I have met here have shown me another side of Nowhere. They've pointed out the beautiful irony that stagnation makes it easy to stop and smell the roses, if we just let it. What would we be if we had nothing to rebel against? Well we could finally be ourselves, the first group of people who stopped looking for the answers long enough to appreciate the questions. And all we have to do is to make our own Declaration of Independence. We can embrace the right to life and liberty by simply realizing that happiness exists -- not to pursue, but to accept. After that the only challenge would be to make sure with the rest of our lives that we weren't just another fad. I don't know, it's an idea. What do you think?

Does whore count as a style?

Actually I like the news posts, at least most of them, I actually get most of my news from here, sadly enough. Besides, without ikea and teenweek, I would have no idea what was on tv and what was going on.

While I am flattered that everyone holds my opinion in such high regard, it really doesn't mean jack shit. I went off on teenweek in that thread because his posting of copied & pasted news stories is annoying to me. That's simply my opinion. He chose to answer to me, but he didn't have to. I can no more dictate what people post on this board than I can dictate what's in my status, obviously.

As for posting style, I prefer the Tiger Style. :)

No one said Teenweek couldnt post News stories except TeenWeek himself. Let him post all the stories he wants. Let him post a re-direct to CNN.com in all his posts for I care. But in the spirit of a "Free Forum" messageboard, he should fully expect to get torn apart by myself and others who are sick of reading news stories constantly.

When you post a thread, you should expect to get flamed eventually. And unless the flames are personal in nature or unfounded, you should not get pissy about it. Take myself for example. I know damn well the threads I start are downright fucking stupid sometimes. I post them so everyone can have a chuckle or whatnot. But if I post something like that intentionally, i have no right to get pissed if someone doesnt like it. Obviously, not everybody has my same sense of humor (if anybody at all). I dont aim to please everyone with those threads, because it simply isnt possible. If you put yourself out there, expect to get flamed, it's a fact of life on this board. Another example was my "FU to my Ninja Death Squad" thread i posted a few months ago. I went into that thread knowing full well that i would get maybe 3 compliments and 4 pages of flames. Thats how this board works. If I only posted what I thought what please the majority, let alone everyone, I would have stopped posting many months ago.

As for TeenWeek, when all you do is post news and whatnot, you get a certain reputation. We all have a reputation here. Everyone got tired of his style. When he kept posting news stories, even after we went through this whole, big, elaborate mess in the "What bothers you about OA.com" thread, he still kept doing them. Well, thats just dandy. But like I said before, if you post a thread, expect to get flamed. Not everyone is gonna agree with you, and you'll only look like a asshole if you try to fight everyone who sees your thread differently.

That was the intent of creating the music forum. To post lyrics and/or discuss music. And until we have a news forum, your point is moot.

There have been countless times that TeenWeek has posted, "I am changed poster, no more news stories from me, I can take a hint that people don't like news stories, after reading the "what don't you like about opianthony.com" I understand, I am adopting a new motto (after Anthony) don't come to me for news, don't go to CNN for dick jokes" and so on...
