That was over a year ago. Maybe check Amazon or something. Did you already get the ticket? I thought that the whole thing with that book was how to prevent a cop from actually giving you a ticket and letting you go.

There was an article in Maxim over the summer about beating tickets. You might want to give the old issues a quick look if you have access.

It was. It also had how to beat the ticket in court, like asking for the calibrations for the radar about one week before the court date, stuff like that.

I was doing 78 on the highway. The speed limit is 55. What i'm looking for is the how to beat it in court, or at least try to get it reduced.

By the way I have a large collection of maxim's. Any idea which one it was? Or who was on the cover?

Thanks

Dude...
It depends where you were at...
Most Judges will let traffic violators plead guilty to an amended charge...
Which means you get the next lower level of violation...
So...Instead of 4 points, you get 2...

Happydude, follow these simple directions. I have never used them, but my sister has and it worked. I rec'd this in an e-mail, and it's away to avoid points. Unfortunately you will still have to pay the fine, but you make up for that by not having insurance surcharges etc.

1. Fill out the ticket as "guilty" and pay the fine by mail, but pay a few dollars more.

2. You will receive a check in the mail for the overpayment. DO NOT cash it. Just keep it in your files.

By doing this the case can never be filed because of the way the DMV and court's computer system works. The points won't transfer to your license until the matter is "officially filed", which it cannot be if you don't complete the transaction.

As I said, my sister did this and we live in NJ. She has avoided the increase in her insurance premium and the associated surcharges. She has no points on her license, and the ticket was issued almost 3 years ago.

Good luck to you, and if you do this, I hope it works for you as it did her.

Go read this It makes a lot more sense than trying to beat the ticket on a technicality or, confusing the beurocracy.

Especialy this part: "Try to be your own little Parry Mason and the prosecutor -- who has seen your type come and go a hundred times -- will eat you alive."

Sorry Mrs. M, but the old overpay and don't cash the check runaround is an urban legend.

I don't recall the author's name, but I've heard him address this issue and even he said he can't substantiate the procedure's effectiveness.

There is no one way to get out of a ticket. There are at least a dozen of ways.

i have 8 points on my license, suck it up. the first 2 don't count interms of your premium anyway. plead guilty in court and have your points lowered. you'll pay more, but next time be careful.

This is true at least in New York. Go to court on your court date. When your case is called, don't stand up, wait to see if the cop is there. If he isn't then stand up and the case will be dropped. If he is there, wait a little while, and reschedule the date due to a "sickness". You are allowed to miss 2 court dates. The third one you must be present. Go back on the 2nd date and do the same thing. If by the third date the cop still shows up, tell the judge you want to see documentation that the radar gun passed its calibration inspection and wasn't overdue. (They are required to have them tested every 30 days.) That will make the judge reschedule the date for you again so the cop can bring the proof next time. The chances of the cop showing up every time are slim to none. Oh, and when you reschedule your court dates, make them on different days of the week, because if a cop gave you a ticket with a court date on a monday, he most likely has mondays off, so choose a different day.
