Death will always happen, now if we worry about dying we will never be able to enjoy life

But what bothers me is unexpected death. I never liked it, and never will, especially when self inflicted. Just knowing that someone can be ripped from my life so easily ... takes a lot of getting used to.

Yes. I have no problem with my death, I just don't like when it happens to someone else. Because then they mess with my being able to talk to them. Sure you can talk out loud or pray to them.... but it's not the same.

I know my family and friends would miss me, so I think that fact would keep me from ever actually killing myself.

quote:

I keep people at a distance, there are only one or two people that I'm actually close to, and even then in the end, I'd be quickly forgotten as life went on.

You don't have to be close to someone to wonder about them. I think about people I've met on vacations, for example. I wonder where they are and what happened.

I know it's not the same as REALLY missing someone that you were close to, that it hurts because they are gone.

But still. I'll think about people from this board long after I'm gone from posting here. Even if I've never talked to them directly.

Someone had to do it:

Blue Oyster Cult
Don't Fear the Reaper

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
We can be like they are

{Refrain}
Come on baby, don't fear the Reaper
Baby take my hand, don't fear the Reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the Reaper
Baby I'm your man

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity
Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday
Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday
Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday
We can be like they are

{Refrain}

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared
Saying don't be afraid, come on baby
And she had no fear
And she ran to him
Then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodbye
She had become like they are
She had taken his hand
She had become like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the Reaper

A guy I knew had this tattoo, "Death is certian, Life is not." Words to live by. I don't think you should live in fear of death. Just respect it.

Death is just that death, but to live in wonder of something that is inevitable is pointless. People fear it and spend half their lives pondering death, why waste your time on wondering what happens after, when you have the present, ya know?

It's like people who pick up a book and read the introduction, then skip to the last page. They wanna know the ending without reading the entire body. They wanna skip 400 pages and read the last one to be secure in the fact that they are not just wasting their time.

Think about it, if not the fear of god and hell, I know for shit sure my life would be different. Fear of the lord and punishment are the two worst fears most humans face.

Living can be a burden at times, but it can also be a gift. I sat on the train today and saw a blind man, life is hard but how much harder is it for him? Yeah still doesn't make it better but hey you gotta think like that at times.

What happens? who knows, no one has come back to tell me about it. I do believe in some afterlife only cause it makes me comfortable, but more and more as life goes on I really think nothing happens at all. Some things in life are unexplainable but where are all the miracles we read about? Where are the messiahs the prophets the christs an moses's? Then again with todays society if christ did come back he'd probably gget robbed, stabbed or thrown in an asylum. But who trully knows? We beleieve in a soul, I believe in a conscience more than a soul.

As far as reincarnation goes, well first off who wants to go through the building process again? Secondly who cares if you won't remember your past? You won't remember your past life, who here remembers their past life? It all boils down to a security blanket, no one wants to believe it is just over. Our bodies die but then.... well All I can offer is a poem excerpt from Jim Morrison understand the words...

The Severed Garden
From: An American Prayer
(By: Jim Morrison)

They are waiting to take us into the severed garden.
Do you know how pale and wanton thrillful comes death?
On a strange hour unannounced, unplanned for
like a scaring over-friendly guest you've brought to bed.

Death makes angels of us all
and gives us wings
where we had shoulders
smooth as raven's claws

No more money, no more fancy dress
This other kingdom seems by far the best
until it's other jaw reveals incest
and loose obedience to a vegetable law.

Thanks for taking a post I was actually proud of and turning into a TOG, lol.

In short terms what I believe he meant by it was we dream of heaven and losing the burdens and sorrows life carries, but heaven and religion is in reality worse than any burden life carries.

SAME HERE!!!!!!! Except when i was 8 or 9. My mother told me that when you die, you get put in the ground and your soul disappears... forever. Nice thing to tell a 6 year old child!!! I have had issues with it ever since, although, the prozac, drinking and sex helps on occasion.

I hope we are reincarnated... there is just not enough room down in hell for all you guys!

I thought make a boatload of money before they know what happens was the basis for religon.

This may seem ironic but being an Atheist is actually more comforting in the idea of death to me. To know that some unknown diety isn't controlling my destiny is a lot more comforting to me. Coming terms with Death is a lot easier.

I've hit rock bottom, and I have been beaten down to the point of unconsciousness.
I've suffered quite a bit in my life. Death is the least of my worries.

Spray it down,
buisness as usual.

Yeah, I am bitter man now, what about it?

Death is really not an issue I fear. It is going to happen some day to me. My only fear id that no-one will remember me with fondness after I am gone. My other fear is that I will die an old man in a hospital bed some where with noone around me to say good bye.
If I had my way, I would want to die in some real ironic or darkly comical way. Such as: I die by drowning since I am a swimcoach and beach lifeguard, or being an emt, I get run over by an ambulance.. A death like that would be great!

"Hey, don't laugh at me too hard! I might coach your child!!!"
