Both parties = equally corrupt with Kenneth Lay being Bill Clinton's golf buddy and them giving money to Tom Daschle and more. And honestly did you expect GWB(an oil man) to not do this? O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | The Dems have their hands all over this. They are guilty. None of them are the President. Just like Clinton, the congressman that condemed him did so hours after some of their interns sucked their junk. The issue was it was the president. Bush vowed to bring morality and dignity back to the White House. Oooops, he must have forgotten that. And Cheny looks like he may be the scapegoat here. He met with Lay in Houston, six days before this mess went public. But he claims, there was no discussion with Enron execs about their financial problems. Uh right! For the Democrats to call Republicans out on this is like the pot calling the kettle black. Mr. Swallow you keep saying when the truth comes out, Bush will be in worse trouble then Clinton. Do you have some inside info we should know about, or are you jumping to conclusions? Wait I know what you'll do. If it does come out that Bush did help Enron, you'll scream quid pro quo. If it turns out Bush didn't help Enron, you'll say he should have helped, to save those jobs. It's a no lose situation for you, you get to bash Bush either way. | ||||

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | Let's face it. Presidents of both parties have pretty much been puppets since the beginning, more so since Kennedy went back and to the left. They are meant to jump up and down and do a dance to entertain us while the true PTB do all the work behind the scenes. quote:Bush was a failure in...LIFE including the oil industries...for years before becoming, well, our President. Bush got major finances from oil companies when running for president. it's not as if this is a secret this is known. And yes, we like to believe he's a great competent leader because he held us together after 9/11 (though let's face it, what did you expect? Him to run to the camera saying "I'm ascared?") but he is still a stupid man. Being able to go on national TV and say "evil doer" does not make someone's IQ higher, if that's true Adam West would be the smartest man alive (no offense to the mayor of Quahog). O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: No sir, no more than anyone else that reads the news. Before this is all said and done, there will be a special prosecutor, an investigation, Senate hearings etc, etc, etc. There are many interesting tidbits coming out here. Try this one on for size. October 11th and 12th, 5 days before Enron went public with their problems, Dick Cheny was in Houston meeting with Enron executives (Source: MSNBC news and the AP (must be true right?)). At this same time, the American public was being told Cheny was at a secure undisclosed location as a matter of national security. Thursday, Cheny's aids acknowledged he was meeting with Enron executives, but that their financial woes were never discussed(Oh yes, I believe that). The purpose of the visit was to discuss a national energy preparedness plan. OK, if they say so. The issue here is not whether or not Bush, Clinton or anyone else got campaign contributions. The issue that will come out here is what did the White House now about Enron's problems and what did they do with there investments and what did the :friends of Washington" do with their investments.
