Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | I have an interview for Grad School coming up and I got the inside track that the main thing they look for is extra-curricular activities. Well, I worked 60-70 hours, so I have none. Plus I hate poor people. But I have to make some shit up that makes me look like Mother Theresa. What are some good ideas (the more details the better) that I can completely lie about, but are really too difficult to have them confirm. Hopefully, this information will allow me to get into a great business school, so I can continue to be heartless, oppress, and screw over those less fortunate. I appreciate the help people.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I work too much as well to have extra curriculars, but what a friend and I are doing is joining a bunch of things so we are on the rosters and not participating so we are techinally "involved" without doing anything. Most schools understand if you have work obligations...trust me. Sometimes I feel this is too scary to be true...I sabotage myself for fear of losing you USA

O&A Board Regular Registered: May. 00 | extra curriculars in college? how can anyone have time to join such things. I tried to get into some, but i just dont like the people in them (particuarly the computer club) and i just dont have any time. I'd like to do the newspaper as well. I guess its now ok to lie on your resume. Just as long as you dont say that you got dean list and you didn't. - AIM:roweLENTless2001

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | You could list any outside "hobbies" as extra-curricular activities, especially ones even remotely pertaining to your major. Also, if you've ever babysat, walked a neighbor's dog, or done anyone a favor, you could always say that the people have since expired, and are no longer available for questioning. ;) "The simulacrum is never what hides the truth--it is truth that hides the fact that there is none. O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | Here's an idea, actually do some charity work. I've done lots of it. It's not that hard, and it really doesn't take up that much time. You should give something back every now and then.

Falsifying interviews concerning public/ community service, taking advice from people on a message board full of demented people, lying on your resumes. Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | Get out there and work with the Red Cross. It's Volunteer, it's not too much time out of your busy schedule and it looks good on a resume. You don't have to always deal with stinky people. Swallow your feelings about smelly people and do something. You might actually like it. It ain't easy being greasy in a world full of cleanliness and you know, all that other madness.

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | quote:It's only boring if you're doing it just so it'll look good on a resume, or because it's mandatory for some reason. Internships in a desired career field are most often the best way to not only "give something back," but to also get hands-on learning experience, college credit, pay (depending upon the internship), and the single best item on a resume. I've both interned with numerous police departments, and volunteered with emergency services personnel, and they were much more rewarding than any college class, for numerous reasons.
