So heres my dilemma. My school has added some kind of patch or filter to our netowrk that limits the downloading speeds for MP3's off of sites like audiogalaxy. I have a really fast T1 connection that navigates the web blazingly fast but transfer speeds for Mp3's are limited so much that it is almost slower than dialup. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that could circumvent this problem, whether it be changing the proxy settings or the port. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated, bcuz 100 bytes per second on Audiogalaxy just isnt human.

**edited to take out asshole remark, but it's been quoted, so I'm not trying to hide it.

Okay, the whole point was to get you to click the link. You didn't buy it. Kudos to you. In short. I really don't know how to get around it, I download songs all the time, so I'm just as guilty.

Just fucking around so late when there was nothing else to post. I would have told me to fuck off instead of being as cordial as you were.

Because I'm sure that you never used Napster or Morpheus or Audiogalaxy. I use programs like these bcuz theres alot of music out there that isn't available to be purchased. Theres alot of acoustic and live tracks that are really amazing but will never be released. I have a an extensive amount of MP3's and the overwhelming majority of them are either live performances of my fav bands, unreleased acoustic tracks, unreleased radio appearance, and alot of underground hip-hop freestyles and battle tracks. These are things that I dont have the opportunity to purchase. Unlike some people I don't just download endless Mp3's and abandon buying CD's. Alot of my favorite bands are small time acts who appreciate every record they sell. So just because I use Audiogalaxy, Morpheus or the like doesn't mean Im a Jew or not supporting the music industry, in fact quite the opposite is true. Recognize what I've said for what it's worth and don't be so quick to make abnoxious blanket statements.

Oh and thanks for the link, but Seph's posts have always showed to check b4 clicking anything. Cock

I thought it was a better idea to make ur post seem senseless than to start a late night cyber battle, bcuz I don't have the energy tonight. I'm glad you recognized my cordiality though, in that I tried to be as polite as possible.

On the topic of links though, this one was recently sent to me and I guarantee that if you go to it you will laugh hysterically within 10 seconds. Just make sure that the volume on ur speakers is on bcuz it is the audio that makes it so good.

Ive yet to master the art of link making so you will have to bear the extra step of copying and pasting if you wish to enjoy.

Miata thing: First off, welcome aboard. I hope you're wearing kevlar. ;)

Second - a note about AudioGalaxy and all the other sharing programs. It doesn't matter if you have a T1, a T3, a DSL or dial-up. The actual speed of downloading music is dependent on not only your access speed but also the speed of the computer (person) you're downloading it from. If Mr. Weavel in Tuscan, Iowa has a tape of Elmer Fudd singing Xmas carols that you really want, and mr. weavel only has a 56K dial-up connection, that's the limit at which the music will be transferred. He can't pump it out any faster than what his dial-up lets him. That's why, if you notice, some downloads are superfast, and some seem to take forever.

Thank you and have a nice day!

That I knew, the problem is that all of my downloads are slow not just some. All students were told that file-sharing speeds would be limited so that all of the school's bandwith would not be occupied bcuz of them. When I go home to my cable modem i consistently get speeds of 150k whereas all of my downlads at school never exceed 1k. I know for a fact that my school has something setup to slow it down, and that its not just imconsistencies with other peoples connctions. Thank you for trying to help though, I appreciate it.
