I have owned Fender guitars and they just don't do it for me, the stock single coil pickups suck ass, and the overall tone seems thin and reedy. I have ended up over the last 12 or so years only playing Gibson electrics, SG's to be exact. I play heavier Sabbath styled rock through a reissue Orange 140 watt head and two 4x12 cabs. What is your equip. set -up?

I have one of both and like each for different reasons. I have a Fender Strat '58 reissue, which I love to play blues and clean stuff with, when I'm in Stevie Ray mode. Also I've got a '60 reissue Les Paul, which I love to kick on the distortion and go hard/heavy with. It's got a lot of low end, a lot of sustain, awesome Zakk Wylde style artificial harmonics. It kicks ass. Now I'm looking for a guitar that's got the best of both... maybe go for a PRS next time.. not sure.

As for amps, I've always had crappy solid state ones due to lack of funds... but one of these days I am definitely gonna go tube with a Boogie. I've wanted one forever.

Oh.. and my baby is my Taylor 810 acoustic. I bought it earlier this year and have not put it down since.. not even to play my electrics. I'm in love.

I play an American made Strat from 2000 (I think). I love it and love the sound. Fenders kick ass, but I will admitt that if I could have any gutiar in the world I would take a Gibson Les Paul. Those are the greatest guitars ever made.

Let's see, I have a Fender American Deluxe Strat. The Deluxe has a humbucker in the bridge position, and really beefs up the distrotion.

I have a Epiphone Les Paul, with Gisbon Studio electronics. Love that guitar.

I have a black BC Rich Warlock, heh this one is pretty much a goof.

The last electric I have is a ESP LTD. Another meaty sounding guitar.

Then I have an acoustic, 6 strigs and a hole...

Here's my rig...

CarsonOgin, my respect for you just tripled by five. Only a true guitarists keeps a picture of his rig lying around. My rig sucks. I got a Zoom 707 pedal (not bad for the price) and a Crate (shut-up) amp. I know playing a strat with a Crate is like driving a Jaguar with no engine, but I'm broke.

Rich "beast" which took one fucking year to have made. its a neck through and has a blueburst finish, but basically looks black unless the light hits it just right. i like all kinds of music except cuntry but for some reason im real good at writting death/grind/hardcore/metal so oh well

So does this mean your respect is multiplied by 15? Or is that one of those Yoggi Berra percentage type quotes? Are we still in negative numbers?! :)

I am mainly a Gibson guy, I have a '61 Reissue SG which plays very nicely and sounds great.

I play this through a Marshall TSL602 2x12 60 watt combo. This amp is great. 3 channels (clean, crunch, and lead) and can handle anything from clean blues sounds, all the way to the heaviest shredding and everything in between.

i like SGs also. but do you find the action a little high? the ones i have played were a little high. i know you can adjust gibson bridges but do the strings buzz more with an SG than any other type of guitar?

The action can be a little high on some SGs, depending on which neck style it has. Mine has the slim taper neck, which is very flexible, so you have to keep the action a little high. I prefer that though.

Les Pauls are built like rocks, so you can lower the action to almost nothing without buzzing.
