The guys talked about the greatest movie scence, but what about the most disappointing/depressing movie scene. Not a scene that was bad or in poor quality, but one that was a downer... ie:

*Sands of Iwo Jima: John Wayne getting shot in the back after the battle
*The Magnificent Seven: James Coburn gets killed before he can throw his knife

*Requiem for a Dream was really powerful, especially the end.
*When Joe Pesci is shot in Goodfellas right when he think he's being made
*When you see the sled being burned up in Citizen Kane
*When Humbert realizes he had lost Lolita
*When Mrs. Bond is killed in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (also depressing when you realized how Myers could have done an assassination in AP2 but relied on the pretty bad "out")
* End of The Professional/Leon when he thinks he's going to make it out and then BOOM you see Gary Oldman behind him
and the topper
* Ending to the original All Quiet on the Western Front

I would have to say the end of Schindlers list was pretty tough to deal with.

No way guys, you're forgetting the MOST depressing, Forrest Gump is standing over the garve of Jenny talking to her about their son, and he breaks out in tears telling her how smart he is and how proud he is of the son, and how much he misses Jenny. Tear-jerker SUPREME.

Most depressing movie scene was when the Titanic hit the iceberg and sank. Also when Sinatra is shot in the back by Nazis at the end of Von Ryan's Express

I was so mad when Sinatra got killed right at the border as the train was rolling...

Yeah, the end of Gump was pretty depressing...

And let's not forget the end of Saving Private Ryan when Tom Hanks dies...

Ironically, that's also the setting of one of the coolest parts of Titanic, when the ship breaks in half and the guy falls on the propeller. :)

Also, I've heard Tom Hanks in Philadelphia was pretty sad, and Tom Hanks having to deal with the loss of his wife and entire way of life in Cast Away was pretty sad, oh, and don't forget Tom Hanks in the Green Mile! Doomed to live a terribly long life and watch all his friends die....geez did Tom Hanks ever make any happy movies?!

that scene in American History X is one of the greatest twists ive ever seen, as well as one of the saddest scenes in movie history

i thought one of the most depressing scene in saving private ryan was the jewish guy's death, cause its total irony, right up till uppum kill him at the end
