I looked at froy's post then thought of this question what is your favorite action scene in a movie?

Just about any scene from John Woo's "The Killer". If you haven't seen it, it's one of his Hong Kong flicks with Chow Yun Fat, more gunshots per minute than just about any movie I've seen in a long time.

Most of the action scenes in M:I-2. The scene in the lab, and the motorcycle chase/beach fight scene.

My favorite "Action Scene" is actually from a comedy... It starts like this...
quote:

"It's a hundred & six miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, It's dark and we're wearing sunglasses..."
..."Hit it!"

and then it turns into one of the greatest chase scenes ever (IMO)

Good Choice That Guy. The whole sequence from the choppers blaring music to the "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

are you guys fucking retarded for not mentioning the greatest action scene ever, the one in the glass building in T2.

The scene with the green flares in The Rock was pretty intense as well

it's a cartoon, but it is still pretty fucking cool.

Opening scene of Transformers the Movie. Unicron eats the planet and you see lil fucking robots screaming and running for their life. As a kid it was traumatic, but as an adult i am able to enjoy it for it's cinematic genius. It's still one of the best scenes in any movie

While it is not strictly an action movie, since it was made well before there were such deliniations, mine would have to be the fight in "THE QUIET MAN" The Duke as a fighter who killed a man in the ring and retired to his ancestral homeland of Ireland for a "quiet life"
Classic!!! A perennial St Patrick's day fave!!!

On a newer note, the gun to gun scene in Face off
and the scene in "Croutching Tiger..." Where the guy gets it in with the crescent moon dagger.

I'm not sure if The Killer was also called Hard-Boiled, but if not, that is another Woo/Yun-Fat movie with an incredible opening sequence in a restaurant, and an equally amazing ending in a hospital, and a whole bunch of cool stuff in between.
