I am leaving for a cross country trip in mid-May and I was looking for any advice/suggestions on places to see from people on the board that might have done it. The plan is to start south then to the South West section and then up the west coast and back. It will be about 6-7 weeks. Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any tips/advice.(Please, NOT serious responses only!!) I know most of you don't care but for those that have had the opportunity to drive cross-country I could use your help. Thanks.

I've never spent that length of time crossing the country, but I can think of some helpful suggestions.

Try looking around for some resources on the web for people who are into serious R/Ving. They probably have all kinds of routes and sights for first timers.

AAA probably has some package routes for people crossing the country too.

I'm sure that there are some Gay resources on the net that highlight various "rest areas" where the action gets hot and heavy. You never know when you'll need to find a nice glory hole.

Also, I'm sure that NAMBLA has listings of where the hot young boys and tips on how to abduct them.

You may want to reconsider your route. If you first head south, then southeast, you will never end up on the west coast until you have circled the globe, crossing the Pacific Ocean from west to east. The good thing is, that with those sense of directions and the fact that you already got lost before you left, we probably never will hear from you again. Like they say, every dark cloud does have a silver linning.

Drove coast to coast for many years. Your best bet to really enjoy yourself, is not to have any set plan on where to stop. But, to basically stop and check out what catches your eye. By the way, is this for work, or for pleasure, or both? Whatever it is for, I am sure that you will see plenty of interesting, and weird shit in this country of ours. I have somewhere around 1500 to 2000 pictures of things I saw. Be safe, and enjoy.

Thanks RadioSex. Greatly appreciated. It is for pleasure. You said you drove coast to coast for many years. Was that for business?

I have been on a couple of cross-country trips and have seen about 40 different states. Most of them before I was 21 years old. I even got to see Hawaii last summer, though I wouldn't suggest trying to drive there. Lol. But seriously, if you are looking for places to see, try looking up, or getting a book on National Parks. Most of the best sights and interesting places can be seen by visiting them. So, check out what you might be interested in seeing, and plan your trip that way. I always preferred staying in campgrounds and places like that as opposed to hotels or motels. it is cheaper and you get more of a cross-country experience that way. But it depends on what type of vehicle and/or equipment you have. Most of these places have plenty of conveniences and facilities anyway, so you won't really be roughing it. You also get more of an opportunity to meet all sorts of different people who might even be able to give you more tips and ideas on places to visit from their own experiences. And I definitely do suggest that you talk to people and leave yourself open to meeting new people. You will find that most of them are friendly and eager to share there traveling experiences with you. You will also find that all the different people you meet will contribute greatly to your enjoyment of the trip and leave you with many more enjoyable memories, stories, and experiences. If you are interested in checking out some of the National Parks, the website below is a good place to start. I have been to many of them myself, but I have to say that the northwest is the most beautiful part of the country in my opinion. Places like Mt. Rainier Washington, the Oregon coast, Glacier National Park and the wide open spaces of Montana, the Badlands of South Dakota, etc. Anyway, I hope I was of some help. Let me know how your trip works out.Visit this Website

It was about 50/50, took a job driving a tractor trailer so i could see the country, after I did that for a few years, took a car to see many of the places I couldn't get to. But, it was worth it.
